Even though she has a weird talent or curse, an alcoholic mum and bullies at school, she still manages to keep herself out of trouble and finds new ways to escape trouble.
3. I think that by the end of the book, Jamie will learn to help people with their dreams, or even avoid it all together.
4. "Janie takes a bite of food. She's famished. "Did you have sweet dreams?" Carrie is silent for a long time. "Not really. No," she says finally."

So, I thought why not try the book because I love harry potter and Twilight and did the same thing.
2. Charlie is the main character in my book, He seems very honest and caring. Sam is very understanding and comforting. Patrick is very funny and outgoing. They all see things and understand.
3. I think Charlie may accidentally say something too honest and hurt someone. I want to learn from this book to become outgoing and carefree, to have fun while I'm still young.
4. "He's a wallflower" (Chbosky,37) This is Patrick saying that Charlie understands and sees things the way they do, saying he's one of them.

1. Why did you choose this book? I chose this book because it shows a different perspective of life and its world issues. It shows that when lines are drawn people will choose a side.
2. What are your first impressions of the characters?
My first impression of the Michael and Mina were interesting because here they are living two different lives. Mina is an Muslim refugee and Michael is a guy who goes to anti-immigrant rallies with his parents. But they are also trying to live up to their parents expectations. They are also totally different from each other, but I feel that they will realize what each other are going through and start to fight for the same and right reasons.
3. What do you think is a conflict your character will have to resolve by the end of the book?
I think the conflict that Michael and Mina will have to resolve by the end of the book is doing the right thing even though others might disagree with them, but also figuring out who they want to be and what they want.
4. What is one quote from the text that stands out to you?
"I'm illiterate, but I read a lot." (Abdel-Fattah, pg.31).

1. Michael's main flaw is that he is not open minded, and say things that can be offensive to people. The thing that is keeping him from being his "best- self" are his parents views about politics and refugees, and the fact that he believes everything they believe.
2. The person who is most affected by Michael's flaw is the other main character Mina. The reason she is most affected because she is a refugee and he is sharing all these political views about refugees and how they shouldn't be coming to Australia because they will just cause trouble. And of course he is being rude about it and not counsendering how she feels, so she is offended by this and I think that she is most affected by is flaw.
3.
"Its cheating . What about all the people who have been waiting in refugee camps and can't afford to buy their way up the queue?

1. I think that Michael will have to educate himself and learn more about refugees and racism, learn more about himself, and what he believes in the world to overcome is flaw of believing his parents political views and beliefs about refugees rather than his.
2. His flaw of believing his parents views and having peoples backs for the wrong and right reasons causes him to get hurt, when he jumps into a fight to help a friend that started because of "reverse racism" and "aboriginal". He ends up getting arrested and let off the hook, but the fight was recorded and was posted and all of Australia was talking the term "reverse racism" and "aboriginal".
3. I have seen this flaw in myself when it comes to having my friends back, but I do it for the wrong and right reasons. I have to learn to be there for them, but also let them suffer the consequences for their actions. I also see this flaw in other people believing in their parents or friends beliefs or political views because they don't know what they want, or are not educated on the topic and just decide to go with it.
4. "Being and Indigenous Australian has nothing to do with skin color".
"You might want to pick up a history book sometime. I mean, I'm just a boat person from Afghanistan and even I figured that out".-Mina(Abdel-Fattah,pg.64).
"I feel like a phony. There's no way I can match my parents' passion and eloquence". But, Charlie starts over thinking about the dance and sam, while overthinking and telling his teacher about his he accidentally reveals a secret his sister told him not to tell, leading her to get in lots of trouble and his sister stops talking to him.
3. I have an overthinking problem as well, almost every text my friend sends me I overthink it and come to the conclusion she hates me, when in reality she was just saying "ok".
4. "Is it your Aunt Helen? It was the way she said it that started me feeling.

1.Michael's main problem is that he is conflicted about what is the truth. He is stuck between his parents views and his views about refugees, asylum seekers, muslims, and immigrants. His other problem is that he doesn't want to be an Architect like his father was, he wants to be a graphic designer.
2.Michael thinks he will need to do more research about refugees and what countries they are fleeing from and why?, but also realizing that his parents political views about refugees are wrong. He also thinks that he should tell his dad the truth about him wanting to be a graphic designer rather than an architect.
3.I think what will actually solve the problem is that Michael needs to fight against his parents views and their organization to keep them from trying to keep refugees out of Australia. I think that he needs to stand up for refugees and their right to live in Australia, and for their right to believe in whatever religion they believe in. The character thought apologizing right then and making excuses was gonna solve their problem right there and then.
3. The thing that solved their problem was simply apologizing without making excuses, and staying away for a bit to let people calm down.
4. "Yeah. You told him that he should tell Patrick that he was sorry himself. That goes for Mary Elizabeth too." (Chbosky, 153)

1. The most memorable thing Mina has done is when she went off on Michael when he was going on about refugees and immigration the wrong way. Another memorable thing is when Michael jump into a fight with his friends brother.
2.Michael was explaining to Mina about refugees coming to Australia, and how their religion and customs are taking over Australia. He is sharing all his parents political views about refugees, and the fact that they are terrorist, then she starts to go off him. She tells him that she is a refugee and that she isn't a terrorist, and not all refugees are bad. She tells him that refugees come to Australia because they are running away from war and they want a better life where they have freedom. Mina then tells him that he has a problem if you believes his parents political views and everything he just said. This is significant to the to the story because it shows much problems come out from Michael's parents political views and it's a foreshadow towards the middle of the story. This later on makes Michael to be conflicted about refugees and what his parents think about them, and also causes him to have feelings for Mina and wanting to impress her.
3. "Not all those who wander are lost"(Abdel-Fattah 248)

1. So far, Janie has managed to sneak into someone's house to experience their dream with them, almost crash her car into a dich, and saved up enough money to go to college.
2. When Janie was driving, she accidentally jumped into someone's dream, which caused her to lose control of her car and go into a ditch. This event is very important because it taught Jamie to always be safe when driving and how to stop her car when she ever gets into someone's dream. This also gave her an inside to how Cabel felt about his abusive dead father.
4. "
