How did Mongol rule benefit Eurasia in the INSPECT themes?

Economics: We were largely responsible for international commerce and taxation among civilizations. We promoted international commerce. We launched a new phase in the history of long-distance trade and travel.
Cultural: we Mongols were open and welcomed a variety of religions, as long as they were not politically threatening. our religious tolerance and support of merchants drew missionaries and traders from afar.
Political: We helped spur on a unified Eurasia. They assisted in forming close-relationships between the courts of Persia and China. We regularly exchanged ambassadors, shared intelligence information, fostered trade between their regions and sent skilled workers back & forth. Thus political authorities all across Eurasia engaged in diplomatic relationships with one another more than ever before.

Counterargument Against Mongol Brutality

Yes, we may have killed some people on our rise to power. But, what other empire hasn't? At the beginning, our Mongol traders and ambassador were brutally murdered by the Muslims in the Islamic region of west Mongolia. In our earlier history as Steppe Nomads we engaged in peaceful trade. We would often exchange horses for basic necessities with settled peoples. Though later on, as we began our conquests, of course there was some level of murder. Murder and the use of terror in conquest is absolutely inevitable, we are not the first to do this and we are definitely not the last. So you, in which ever empire, who are you to judge? You've all done your fair share of brutality and so have we. If anything I believe we should receive gratitude because after we have conquered your lands, that brutality is over. We are no one to kill you for your religion, we even implemented stability of law in order a period of Mongol Peace for all the land that is our empire. We guaranteed a safe passage for travelers, caravans, missionaries throughout the entire empire. Women, you have all been granted more freedom(s) in contrast to the old Confucian life style in which all but the elite (and even with a high status, you were not granted so much freedom) were discriminated greatly, all because you're a woman, Mongolian women are able to work along with men, fight with them, be an advisor.

Counterargument against Black Death

While people speculate that the spread of the Mongol Empire spurred on the contamination of the Bubonic Plague (the Black Death) it cannot be certain that we helped with that. We cannot be held responsible for starting or creating a disease- misfortunes happen and we might have caught the disease by accident. Keep in mind that much of our military men fell dead to this disease as well, something that would have weakened us. We would not cause the spread of the bubonic plague on purpose- on the contrary. We would have wished to continue on conquering and ruling over the lands in Asia and all the civilizations surrounding it. Thus, we cannot be held responsible for spreading a disease that killed hundreds of people, when we wouldn't have wanted to cause that in the first place.

The Mongols may be known for being bad but they also did good too. They did good things to help with their empire one of the good things they did was "destroy the feudal system and built a new system that was based on a individuals merit." This created a government that was in favor of its people. Genghis Khan also "made a disjointed and languorous town into a large free trade zone he did it by lowering taxes for everyone and abolished them for doctors, teachers, priests, and educational institutions." Another good deed the Mongols did was create a regular census and made the first international postal system and Genghis Khan widely distributed goods he acquired from battle he was so good he insisted on laws holding rulers equally accountable as the lowest herder. Genghis also "allowed religious freedom in his empire but all he wanted was loyalty from everyone of all religions." Genghis Khan is so nice that he insisted on a rule of law and abolished torture and lastly he refused to hold hostages and instead instituted the novel practice of granting diplomatic immunity for all ambassadors and envoys. All these points show just how the Mongols tried their best to form a united, impartial empire.

We, the Mongols, should be found as innocent, because although it may seem like all we did was cause destruction and grief wherever we went, that does not mean that our only goal was to strike terror across Eurasia. No, not at all. We simply wanted to come to power in order to create a more unified Eurasia, not one that was split up vastly across the lands and had their backs turned to one another. Our Mongol movement has created the high point for pastoral empires. We've assimilated the establishment of a vast interacting network across Eurasia to create a powerful, unified empire like never before. What's the harm in that? Our attempt in this process has spurred on Western Europeans themselves to contribute to this movement in this long process of global integration by creating new transoceanic routes. From our attempts to cause something monumental and with all the good intentions in the world must lead you all to believe that we are innocent, though the mass chaos you all believe we caused across the land. As though many people say, if you want something in life, you have to seize it, before that opportunity gets thrown away.
