My great grandparents came to the christian faith through missionaries that were sent to Thailand.  In today's world where truth, marriage, and family seems to be defined by society, culture and self belief, I stand  strongly that the Bible is the true definition of these. Below is a link of the denomination I grew up in and continue to be apart of. I was born in Thailand in the refugee camps. My family was sponsored by a church in Philadelphia and immigrated to the US. I was an infant when my parents immigrated here. I grew up in the US. Though I have a Chinese last name, I am not Chinese. Hmong is a people group that originated in China. They were persecuted and fled into the mountains (Hmong means mountain people). The Hmong people eventually migrated into Laos and Thailand. There is still a large population of Hmong people in China, Laos, and Thailand. Here is a picture of my children dressed in the Hmong clothes. We still have Hmong New Year celebration and dress in the traditional clothes. I speak fluent Hmong and can read and write the language. I hope to continue to pass that down to my children.

My family was sponsored by a church in the Philadelphia area. When my parents first arrived to the United States from Thailand, they lived in the Philadelphia area for a couple of years. Once my parents were able to find jobs and adapt to the american life here, they moved out to the Lancaster Area. I grew up in Lancaster County. I attended the Conestoga Valley school district and graduated from there. My siblings and I have had the opportunity to finish school here in the US and continue onto college. All my siblings are professionals now working in their field of studies.  I am married and have 4 beautiful children. My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this year.  I am blessed! Pictured here are my sisters and I. Not pictured are my three younger brothers.  Being the oldest, I looked after my younger siblings and they were my first "students".  As a child at the age of 10, my sisters and I would play school and I would be the teacher. I really enjoyed being the "teacher". I would teach my younger siblings what I learned and know from school. My parents did not speak English so I learned how to speak the language from school. I remember all the ESL (English as a second language) classes and teachers. The teachers were so kind and very helpful in teaching me how to read, write and speak English.
