This is an important musical element across all kinds of music because it goes into depth on how listeners evaluate music with emotional and physical interpretation. Music can be interpreted in many ways and transmission is the way they understand that interpretation. For example, Ratliff talks about John Lennon’s singing “Julia” has different components of how he's sings it and who is John Lennon's intended audience. I do agree with Ratliff's arguments regarding this musical element because I think music can be given in many ways. I the audience wants to understand a piece of music in more than one way then it is a given opportunity. “We R Who we R” exemplifies this musical concept because it has a lot of transmission in the beat, the background and the interpretation of the song. I think the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus also exemplifies the musical concept because the country and pop genre incorporate gives different interpretations of the song.

I think when people sing or dance they do become ventriloquist because they take control of their environment and their movement physically or vocally.

I think Ratliff talks a lot about this throughout the chapter as he goes over how listeners have the power to pay attention to certain details, decide what the meaning is and decide what to make most of the music.
