Readers Workshop

This week in reading we read stories and found quirky details and tension and focused on traits and looking closely for clues in the story that tell us about the characteristics. We read Gate A-4 and discussed the characters and talked about rather a internal tension, stress between two characters or internal tension, stress inside a character was occuring in the story. We glued a lot of small papers that could help us to think of character traits.

Math

This week in math we worked on equivalent fractions. We compared them on the number line. We learned about the multiplier. ex: 1=2/2 1/2=1/2 x 2/2=2/4.

Science

We made egg racers cars and we will put eggs in the cars.

We stuck skewers through glued tissue boxes and hot glued the cardboard wheels with foam spacers to not let them rub against each other.

This week in science we made mini egg racers. We used two tissue box glued together for the body of the car. We then made holes for wheels. It was really fun.

In P.E. we all played a game called army, navy and we also played the game land, air, sea but the coach also added laser, fire ball, and bridge to make the game more fun

In Sel we learned to be upstanders with miss Liz. Some of the phrases were like "We don't do that at our school!" The point this lesson was to help bullied victims and to stop it.

Writers Workshop

In writers workshop we did the "Austins butterfly", and wrote how the students helped him in improve his drawing, and how he could use there suggestions to help him make the tiger butterfly, and his six draft was the best. but I think the fourth draft was the best.

Music this week was very fun. We learned dances and played games. One of the dances we learned was a Mexican dance. We danced in a circle and clapped along to the beat.

We did dances and clapped out rhythms. We played poison rhythm, and did a beat combination that got faster and faster. It was really fun. I think next week or the week after that we will start to play our instruments. Yay!!!

We started warming up by running laps around the black top. Then we played a warm-up game called land, sea, and air. If coach said land, we would jump forward. If he said sea, we jump backwards. If he said air we would jump. Then we played Army Navy. It was basically a bigger version of the warm-up game.

We learned about being a up stander and to stop bullying with mean words and cyber bullying. We also learned ways of how to stop someone being bullyed and we can tell a teacher.

In Social emotional Ms. Liz she taught us about how we should be upstanders to bullying she also taught us that we should tell a grownup if someone is being bullied.

We wrote about Austin's Butterfly and wrote about how it could help our writing. He tried over and over again and used his classmates suggestions to make his artwork look a lot like the butterfly, he did 6 drafts and at the end he was able to do it really good. He is trying hard.

In social studies we worked on a scavenger hunt lots of people found it difficult to find the time line inside the book (Including me!)
