It is true that we are influenced by everything and everyone around us, but nobody can know everything and so everybody still has to discover their own personality by experiencing new things.

In conclusion I think that it is very easy to be influenced by our society, but still, everyone has their own personality and individual things about them.

Regarding the book „gone girl“ written by Gillian Flynn and published in 2012, there are no real people in the world anymore and everybody is just choosing this kind of character that they want to be right now.

I think that this can be true for some people and in some situations but not always. There is no doubt that there are people who always play a role depending on whoever they are around at that time but I am a hunred percent sure that not everybody is like this and that there a still people who just are themselves.

A pro argument for his thesis is that everybody has it‘s own personality in the internet which is a verifiable fact. You can‘t be the same person in the internet like you are in real life and if you create this alternative personality, why wouldn‘t you just also create alternative personalitys in real life. Another aspect is that a lot of people dont even notice how they change around other people.

On the other hand there are a lot of people who don‘t do that. These people are just themselves and life their life without changing their personality for someone and without caring what other people think about them.

All in all you could say that this thesis is half true because although it has some strong arguments it really just depends on the person.

This does mostly have an effect on especially younger people on how they are developing.
However on the other hand, I am certain that there are still many other chances in reallife to experience new things and ways to find your own personality because in the end everyone is still different on their own, as well as every human has got his own opinion and view on things in life.

To sum up, I am convinced that it is sometimes difficult to find your own real personality because of the impact media can have on us but you can still be able evolve yourself by focusing on reallife interactions and limiting your online consume.

Are we a real person or only a collection of personality traits selected from an endless automat of character?

I think that our personality is manipulated by movies and pictures because our emotions are manipulated in a way reality can not anymore. You will not be able to see things for the first time.

Nowadays we are familiar with most of our daily situations in life and we also know very much of other people or what is going on in the world because of watching documentaries or following someone on social media. But is that an excuse for not having “real personality“ and play acting?

I do not think so. We are all influenced by the internet, because it is a daily part of our life. But that has quite nothing to do with our natural personality traits. Also we are all individuals who have different characters.

Because of social media and photos we are able to see on the internet, many people with disabilities, who might cannot experience these special moments taken by people who have experienced it, are blessed to at least contemplate these moments.

But while seeing everything on the internet before seeing it in real life, we form expectations and so follow disappointments. Because of that we are not as much exited and enthusiastic as we would be if we did not have an exact idea of what we expect to see.

At the same time we focus too much on the fictional world when we should stay in reality.

On the one hand our opinions can be influenced by the internet or our social community, on the other hand we have the opportunity to form our own opinion based on many impressions.

All in all I think that going through social media, watching documentaries or looking at photos is not an excuse for play acting, because we always have the opportunity to form our own opinion.

The statement that it is a very difficult time nowadays to be an actual person and not just different personality traits thrown together is in my opinion not completely true.

Of course many people just copy specific personality traits from people they see on the internet to fit in but that does not mean they can not be their own real and authentic person. Copying other peoples traits is how most children develop because social media, TV and also the people they grow up with influence them a lot and they even take some of their personality traits because that is how they were taught to be. This does not mean that they are not a real person anymore because as they grow older they can decide whether they agree with the things that they were taught or not. Copying personality traits is especially as a child a normal way of finding yourself and developing to a person. On the other hand there is still a big risk that children get influenced too early by social media and can not distance themselves yet so the statement is not completely false in my opinion. While admitting that social media can make it harder for people to find their real selves because they are constantly influenced by it and maybe even force themselves to be someone they are not, one should not forget that there is still a way to distance yourself from that and figure out who you are on your own and use social media in a healthy way. In addition to that, even without social media many people just pretend to be someone they are not to fit in at school and with their friends. Not everybody can distance themselves like that but I am convinced that most can because everyone still has their individual opinion and can decide what things they agree or disagree with.

In conclusion, I think that while there is still a risk that people just copy every personality trait to be cool or popular, there is still a way of using it in a healthy way and it can actually help people find out who they really are and form their own opinions.

Reffering to the quote it is pretty difficult to have these days an own oppinion. The main problem is that it is incredible easy to get influenced. Especially nowadays with social media it is hard to stick with your own oppinion.

First of all I would like to point out that I can completly agree with that. I can see how quick people are changing their opinons when their role models do it.

But I have the feeling that this is not only true for others. I have to admit that I can get influenced quick too even though I am noticing it and trying to handle it. It seems to me that this problem is static growing with the use of social media.

On the one hand it is very useful to have so many information and opinions. But on the other hand the question is if it is good to get affected like that. There are a lot of people that do not have an own oppinion at all. Furthermore, it its unlikely that you know how strong you got influenced. It is difficult to separate your ”own” opinion with the ones you got ”told”. Moreover, ”small” opinions are often not getting attention. With that it is way easier to just agree with others.

All in all you can say that it is not only difficult to express your own oppinion but also to stick to your own and to not get influenced. That is why I agree with the statment and can confirm that many people are just a ”collection” of personalities.

In my opinion it is totally normal to get influenced somehow, but you still have the opportunity to stay at your opinion. Statistics show that if people get influenced, the most get influenced by people from social media, which is not surprising in my opinion. But if you want to stay away from every sort of influence, you also have to stay away from all the wonderful opportunity’s the internet and social media gives you. Like access to almost unlimited information. I think that the costs I have to pay to get a opportunity like that, is totally worth it.

Over all it is your choice to decide on an influence free live or you take the risk to get influenced and get access to almost unlimited information.

For example if a person is growing up with parents who smoke, drink alcohol and generally use bad words, its very likely that the child will be pretty similar to them, whilst a child in a ‘neutral‘ environment wont be probably very similar to the other one, even if it was a sibling.

That brings us to the point where it is easily able to state that we are a collection of personality traits, without it only being in this era or somewhat automated.
