John Locke believed that all humans have unalienable rights, which means that we have rights that the government can not take away from us. He also believed that the government's purpose is to serve the people, protect life, liberty, and property. These are some of the ideas that are used in the United States Government today with the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

While Democracy goes with popular sovereignty when creating new laws, whether that be good or bad or right or wrong, the government would still go with majority vote.

The right of revolution in America is something that is not used that often. It would start by the government abusing it's power and disrupting human rights and then the people revolt. People can do this in a violent way or a civilized way. A way that people could do this in a peaceful way is by trying to get enough people to agree to get the government to change a law that is unfair to the people. No violence is needed. They could protest or something similar to that. That way people can have things change without going too crazy.

The Declaration of Independence is a document that stated why the colonies separated from Great Britian. We wanted human equality, natural rights, a government that would secure those rights, and to be able to have a government that would not abuse it's power. By having this as a written document, it has helped people understand why we did what we did and is apart of how we started off as a country and have what we have today.
