“How is it possible that in twenty years of education, they cannot think of any beneficial relationships between people and the environment? Perhaps the negative examples they see every day-brownfields, factory farms, suburban sprawl-truncated their ability to see some good between humans and the earth. As the land becomes impoverished, so too does the scope of their vision. When we talked about this after class, I realized that they could not even imagine what beneficial relations between their species and others might look like. How can we begin to move toward ecological and cultural sustain-ability if we cannot even imagine what the path feels like?”(Page 6, Kimmerer)

This showed how people's perspective of nature is very desiring towards it ruining the relationship in the first place. This is because this desire turns into envy with humans and that is where our unrealistic vision of nature comes from. Also, this is where the ego comes into play because some humans then put themselves on a pedestal making it seem like treating nature with respect is like a favor towards it. This also connects to how when we discussed in our lecture the “derangement scale” which talked about our perception of climate change. This means that those eco-fascists instead of discussing where the problem lies and what contribution they made to it they decide to blame everyone else for the problems. Also, they create irrational solutions that affect people very negatively, and it truly is selfish and not bringing them closer to nature. Also, it’s not solving nature problems it’s solving a “human” problem only for them. It’s really just creating a great mass of people to just be openly showing their hatred towards others, and not making progression into a positive change in life.

All three text showed how humans and nature are very separated from eachother. Meaning that because of humans wanting to be in control and being greedy causes us to not genuinely create a bond with nature. “Skywoman Falling” and “Ecofascism ” both show how are perspective of our own relationship with nature is very warped.Meaning both reveal how humans don’t know how to be one with nature they only know how to be a parasite towards it. Also “Princess Mononoke” and “Skywoman Falling” both discuss how humans truly don’t see nature.Meaning both conveyed how humans will pollute and destroy nature never realizing the beauty of it that they are killing. Finally “Princess Mononoke” and “Ecofascism” both show how human greed and ego will be the cause of nature dying because we take action towards nature only when it benefits us in the end. Meaning that our environment being so consumed around being in control and powerful we won’t be able to create a prosperous relation with nature.

Both scrapbook posts show how humans and nature could bond it’s just that we have to respect and care for nature. Neruda and the captain from WALL-E have a very similar perspective of what nature looks like. Meaning both see nature as this beautiful thing that brings them joy and happiness. This connects to our lecture about romanticism because both have this fictional vision that once one with nature you finally truly live. Also both connect on how life “now” isn’t ideal because they aren’t bonding with the environment. This relates again to our lecture about preservation because both want nature to be as is while they get to enjoy and bond with it.

This showed how humans will never be able to make progress with nature if we don’t stop tearing it apart. Meaning when we pollute and destroy nature for generations slowly that becomes the normalcy in life.Which is why the newer generation are now immediately witnessing and living in this parasitic relationship between nature and humans. Therefore this perception is what causes humans and nature to not be together because for years now there hasn’t been a change in the way humans live. This means that if we continue to destroy nature with our technology and pollution while also denying to change this awful way of life future generations to will remain isolated from the environment. This connects back to our lecture-discussion about ontology and epistemology because if we kill off most of nature we will never deeply understand it. Also if all we know is harming nature there will never be a connection made with it.

Therefore our technological advancements blind us from the truth of what we are truly doing to nature and ourselves. Meaning that this showed how once humans realized the damage they did was at such a vast amount they gave up once it became too hard for them. Which very much connects to now because humans are so lazy and in denial. Meaning they don’t want to deal with the uncomfortable truth and don’t want actions they need to take. Also, it shows how the people with such power become selfish when it comes to replenishing and nurturing nature. Meaning that even now our government doesn’t wanna take action to try to stop climate change and pollution. This connects back to the lecture when we talked about “Environmental Justice” because humans do need to take action immediately to create a concrete relationship between humans and nature while also respecting and healing nature.

This shows how humans haven't even developed a genuine relationship with nature and it has caused us to not see what nature actually is. We take from it but never acknowledge how it's providing not just for us. This means that we need to start realizing nature is more than just the resources we steal from it because Nature lives like us too. Also, humans need to realize nature will be nature no matter the damage done to it and that we need to change our ways to be able to keep growing with it while letting it naturally bloom too. Lastly, to relate back to our lecture we discussed evolution because in the movie and now we humans need to let nature be nature and just bond with it naturally without force.

Therefore this shows how humans create this fictional idea that nature before humans and our advancements it was this beautiful type of nirvana.Which is very unrealistic because nature doesn't automatically mean you just frolic joyfully through flowers.Nature is deeper than that and also doesn't provide peace all the time this is because nature is the environment and earth meaning it can't visualize humans in this superior light that we have ourselves. Meaning that humans keep making it seem like nature is just this beautiful thing that just provides for us is ignorant. This is because we are trying to humanize nature in a way so we could relate to it instead of leaving it as is. However, Neruda is advocating for bonding with and appreciating nature. This relates to our lecture when we discussed “Romantic poetry” because Neruda is giving the impression that he himself only wants to go back to time periods that were during “old” form of nature.Which he believes will change him too.
