I personally really enjoyed the poster because I have an emotional support pet and looking at research on that topic made me appreciate my pup that much more. I think that ESP’s should be more common in the educational environment be it for individual students or maybe one pet for a class as a whole.

I thought it was interesting because it’s so easy to forget that special education is not just important in schools, but in the daily life of the students. Also, churches are supposed to be a place of support and care, but if they aren’t properly equipped in regards to special Ed, they are not going to be able to minister and support those that need those services.

One that stood out was about the positive effects of African American male mentors for young African American boys. I entered into a great conversation with a woman who has been in the special education field for over 30 years! It was neat to hear her perspective and I gained some insight on how I can make a difference in the understanding of other cultures in our school system. I had a great time and was thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this event.
