West Jordan High School

This is the entrance / exit to the student parking lot at West Jordan High School. Although they have the sign of no cell phone usage, there are potholes all throughout this section. We would think that the city would consider better about getting it fixed since this is where students travel every single day. These potholes are able to even pop tires especially if at times students don't really care as to how they drive. This could then create problems for the school and students as well.

Here we have a section close to West Jordan High School where we have the same problem with the streets. This section tends to be formed by people of color locals. The run slight run down buildings are shown which makes it think about how the rest of this neighborhood could be formed of. On the other side of these locals, there is also other ones which consist of a laundry mat which is how all of these locals tend to have a lot of people flowing throughout the day. Along with that, in front of this bakery there is usually people selling tamales, hot chocolate, or champurrado. It is always interesting to see what they end up selling but at the same time how they try and look for a way to make money rather than just on the side of the road.

While doing this project I realized how this part of West Jordan was. I would drive through here sometimes when I would go and study at the library but I never really stopped to "admire" what it had. I feel like 7800 S is very well traveled on compared to 7000 S yet when it comes to the neighborhoods, we can at times see how the houses are worn down in some parts. Along with that, what really got me by surprise was the road damage that there is like the potholes which were pretty big. It makes me think and compare it to my own neighborhood. Although we don't have a school nearby, we do have a church of the Latter-Day Saints right in the middle. Overall, I would think about how these locals are fully successful at times because Jordan Landing is just down the street with a lot more stores with many more things. On top of that, I feel like driving through this neighborhood area made me think about where I grew up when I was younger and even though our house was small, it was the home where everyone would come too and spend time with us.

Church

Although I didn't get to take a picture, there were two churched on 2700 W one of them being "on" West Jordan High School campus. I always think it is interesting on the amount of churches which there are throughout these neighborhoods. Although this was out of my focused area, I did drive a little farther down to 2200 W where I ended up seeing that there were 3 church within a mile almost. I never realized how close they could of been and the potential and governance that the church has within Utah.
