Lots of people from different countries such as Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, have been migrating to Turkiye since 2011.

Syrians constitute a significant part of the population in our country. And of course, in this case, they affect us in many ways.

Even though the war in Syria has officially ended, why do Syrian immigrants still live in Turkiye?

Syrians have the highest population (over 3 million people) among all of the immigrants in Turkiye.

Immıgrants accounts for 7% of Turkiye's population.

Since there are alot of immigrants, Turkish people cannot stand it from time to time and it causes hate speech against immigrants and social disorganization.

According to the resarches conducted in 2022, birthrate in Turkiye is 1.62, birthrate in Syria is 2.7, however birthrate of immigrants living in Turkiye is 5.3.

When you buy a product from some companies, in addition to Turkish and English language, there is also Arabic language written on the product.

Some politicians promise to send immigrants back to their countries, if they won the elections while some politicians promise to let immigrants live in Turkiye no matter what.

Immıgrants can set up a party to stand for their rights.

In the near/far future when it is election time in Turkiye, there can be immigrant president candidates or even worse one of the Turkiye's future presidents can be an immigrant.

More immigrants would come to Turkiye day by day and they will be more crowded than Turkish people. It would be like a silent invasion.

Immıgrants can go back to their countries safely with the help of (voluntary) returning back projects, so both Turkiye and the immigrants can live happily.

According to an article, immigrants who take refuge in Turkey, especially Syrians, greatly affect our country economically. Turkey has made huge expenditures for Syrians. It has even been the case that the poor in Turkey have been put in the background.

In fact, this short video clearly shows how the number of immigrants in Turkey has changed. When we check the increase in immigrants in Turkey, which started in 2011 and has been continuing for years, and the number of immigrants in other countries, we can understand how big a change there is in Turkey.  

I know that there is not only Syrian immigrants in Turkiye but I wanted to focus on them in one of my questions since they are the most crowded ones among immigrants in Turkiye.

According to an article, migration and refugee flows complicate the natural flow of life and pose threats to security. Especially refugees coming from Syria create complexity in our country in terms of security. It affects not only Turkey's internal security but also its external security. 

According to the interviews on the internet, news, articles etc. most of the immigrants do not want to go back to their countries. Some of them say that "the war in my country is still ongoing, so it is dangerous. I cannot go back." some say that "I've been here for over that 5 years. I like living in Turkiye, it is comfortable." some say that "I have established my own company here. I earn money by working in Turkiye. I don't want to leave here." Even if there are immigrants who want to go back to their countries, most of them does not want to go back and want to stay in Turkiye. Moreover they say that "Turkish people want immigrants to go back to their countries but nobody ask our opinion." They think that they have the right to stay in Turkiye, no matter what. They see themselves as born and raised Turkish citizens, as if Turkiye is their own country.

Of course, those in difficult situations should be helped, but when we consider the current situation of our country, I think that we, as Turks, are negatively affected.

The culture and rules of the Republic of Turkey and its mostly illegal immigrants are completely different in terms of for example women's rights. And this creates problems because instead of keeping up with our culture and rules these people mostly bring their cultures and as a result of this crime rates and femicides are getting higher and higher.

Immigrants mostly live in Istanbul because it is the most crowded city in Turkey.

Migration is a serious problem in Turkey because it occurs in an uncontrolled way and in the last 10 years the demographic structure of our country has been seriously demolished.

Turkey gets millions of immigrants mostly from various Middle East countries. And the number of immigrants is too much for a country whose population is approximately 80 million.

One of the most important problems of migration in Turkey is the integration of them into our culture. As we are completely different in terms of our language, marriage culture, and sects we are having so many problems with them. While settling down in our country they do not leave their habits and cultures completely different from ours. They are continuing them in Turkey and this leads to problems because for example they are polygamous and we are mostly monogamous. According to an article, another big problem is that Syrians living in city centers generally prefer suburbs to pay low rent. Several families can stay together in houses that are already in adverse conditions. This situation, above all, encourages unplanned construction and slums.
