https://padlet.com/donald_woytcke/fjf75aeb9egu HUMN330 - Module 1 en-us 2017-10-22 18:56:28 UTC 2017-10-23 01:11:00 UTC hello@padlet.com donald_woytcke https://padlet.com/donald_woytcke/fjf75aeb9egu/wish/199384135 This is story comes from The Netherlands where assisted suicide was legalized in 2002.  This rare situation involves couple that were both 91 years old and have been having medical problems for a long time.  Mr. Elderhorst had a stroke in 2012 and his mobility had been reduced since the incident and Mrs. Elderhorst had mobility problems also to include dementia.  The reason that this situation is so rare is because not very many couples have life ending circumstances that can qualify for this procedure.  They both still had to be assessed for 6 months to be granted the procedure to take their life with euthanasia.  Their daughter that attended the procedure said they couldn't live without each other and this is the only way they wanted to go.  This scenario shows that people that are very ill and are tired of fighting a very hard battle would like to leave the world on their own terms with the people they love.  A lot of people mention that at the end of their loved one's life that has been sick for a long time usually suffer without notice.  I hope that at the end of my life I have a peaceful departure with my family by my side.
