         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Expressed, implied, and inherited powers (collectively called delegated powers)<br><br>Expressed:<br>-Directly from the Constitution<br>-Contained in the first three articles<br>-Include: power to levy and collect taxes, coin money, make war,raise an army and navy, and regulate commerce among the states<br>-Also called Enumerated powers<br><br>Implied:<br>-The authority that he national government requires to carry out the expressed powers&nbsp;<br>-Spring from and depend on the expressed powers (directly correlate)<br>-Ex: the power to draft people into the armed forces is implied by the expressed power of raising an army and navy<br>-Basis for these powers is the necessary and proper clause (called the elastic clause because it allows the powers of Congress to stretch)<br><br>Inherent:<br>-Powers that the national government can practice simply because it's the government<br>Ex: the ability to control immigration and establish diplomatic relations with other countries</div>]]></description>
