Nowadays everybody is concerned with environmental problems and nature pollution. We hear a lot about environmental crisis and global warming, greenhouse effect and deforestation. Yet, we still move the way of industrialization and consumer-oriented lifestyle

Nature has given us everything for successful living. We use its resources to satisfy our needs and requirements. But greediness and strive for luxury has led to environmental imbalance. We have to tame our appetite and to think of substantial living. The time has come that we should think of nature conservation and healthy environment.

Over the last century people polluted nature with industrial and household waste. Industrial advance has caused contamination of water, soil and air. Plants, factories and increased number of cars on the highway are the main emitters of greenhouse gases. It is important to become environmentally friendly and run eco friendly businesses.

Nature and environment need our protection and conservation. We made a lot of mistakes and it is time to rectify them until it’s too late. Industrial kings do not realize the damages they do to nature and continue polluting the air we breathe, the water we drink and the soil we plant vegetables. So what to do and how to make magnates to take into account the importance of nature protection? You know the old saying that when you want to change the world you have to start with yourself. Everybody can make a difference. There are a lot of cases when people gathered together and went on strike for companies that were involved in environmental scandals. With  up-today technologies people can communicate faster and share news quicker. Here are some examples of how to combat negligent attitude towards nature and environment.

A shoe making company was declared a strike. People refused to buy their products and spread the word of the company as an unsustainable manufacturer. The management team of the company was at a loss at first. But later they found out the reason of the strike. They produced shoes made of leather that was supplied from a Southern American country. People in that country started to cut down forests to expand pastures for the cattle from the leather of which these shoes were made of. Thus, shoe production caused the main ecological concern – deforestation. This proved the proverb that ignorance is no defense.

It is obvious that industrial breakthrough has changed our life greatly but it has even greater impact on nature. People should reconsider their attitude to nature and renovate production process. We should think critically about the present and anticipate events in the future. We have a world ticking bomb of marine crisis, pollution, shrinking forests and endangered wildlife. What will be our world like in fifty years if we will exploit natural resources at a present rate?

Numerous natural disasters are the signs of the Earth exhaustion and emergency calls for help for us. There is a lot to be done for substantial living in balance with nature. We must also care for wildlife and endangered animals.

This advice will help essentially to protect nature and environment. Eco-friendly behavior will substantially improve natural environment around you and on the Earth in the whole. Eco-friendly or "going green" is the latest way of life. Eco-friendly refers to those goods and services which are considered to have negligible or no harm on the environment.

Sustainable development refers to a system which uses resources in such a way as to preserve the resources for both present and future generations.Using of alternative and renewable resources of energy and conservation are two aspects of sustainable development.Rain water harvesting,saving trees and conserving energy are modes of sustainable.

Some of the most important natural resources are limited and non-renewable like fossil fuels.The need and desires of human beings are ever increasing so there is an increasing trend in demand for natural resources. Hence,the natural resources are depleting at a rapid pace.

According to the various scientific studies, the natural resources would soon deplete completely. And result will be no power and total blackout and collapse of sophisticated lifestyle and activities of mankind.Not only the depletion of natural resources but also awareness about the environmental degradation has led the society to look for alternative resources which are both eco-friendly and renewable at the same time.

In a bid to save environment, more and more people are opting for eco-friendly goods and services. There are host of eco-friendly goods and services available these days. To save non-renewable resources, alternative resources of renewable energy are being used.Hydro power, solar energy, biomass energy, geothermal energy and oceanic energy are being used as they all are natural, eco-friendly and renewable sources of energy.

Societies world over have become more aware about the alarming depletion of resources and environmental degradation. Hence, minimising use of plastic bags, using natural fabrics like cotton,use of paper bags, jute bags, use of CNG, banning use of poisonous chemicals as DDT,use of eco-friendly furniture and paint are the need of the hour.       Seterusnya, kita perlu memperbanyakkan tanaman hijau seperti contoh, pokok - pokok dan sayur - sayuran kerana tanaman hijau sangat berguna dalam kehidupan manusia. Sebagai contoh, pihak sekolah atau ibu bapa boleh menggalakkan aktiviti penanaman pokok.

      Selepas itu, generasi muda mestilah menyertai aktiviti sukarelawan seperti contoh, bergotong - royong atau sebagainya. 

     Akhir sekali, penjagaan kebersihan sungai. Sungai merupakan nadi kehidupan kita kerana sungai merupakan sumber bekalan air yang utama kepada manusia atau haiwan.

சுற்றுச்சூழல் எனப்படுவது நாம் வாழ்கின்ற இந்த பூமியில் எம்மை சூழ்ந்து காணப்படுகின்ற இயற்கை அரண் எனலாம். இந்த இயற்கை சூழல் சமநிலையை இழந்து விட்டால் இங்கு எந்த உயிரினங்களும் வாழ முடியாது போய்விடும்.

இயற்கை சூழலை பாதுகாத்தல் எனப்படுவது எமது சுற்றாடலை பாதுகாக்க நாம் எடுக்கும் முயற்சிகள் ஆகும். மனிதர்களினுடைய மோசமான செயல்களால் பாதிக்கப்படுகின்ற இயற்கை சூழலை பாதுகாக்கவேண்டிய கட்டாயத்தில் இன்று உலகம் உள்ளது.

எது எவ்வாறாக இருந்தாலும் மனித நடவடிக்கைகளால் சூழல் வெகுவாக அழிக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது. மிக அழகானதும் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததுமான இந்த சூழலை மீள கட்டமைக்க வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு இன்று மனிதனுக்கு ஏற்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

இதற்காக உலகநாடுகள் பலவும் மீள் காடாக்கம், காற்று சுத்திகரிப்பு, இயற்கை வளங்கள் பாதுகாப்பு, பச்சைவீட்டு வாயுக்கள், காபன் வாயுக்கள் வெளியேற்றம் போன்றனவற்றை குறைத்தல், கழிவகற்றல் முகாமைத்தவம் போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டு அழிவின் விளிம்பில் இருக்கின்ற இயற்கை சூழலை பாதுகாத்து மீள கொண்டுவர முயற்சிகளை எடுக்கின்றன.

கனடா, ஜேர்மனி, இங்கிலாந்து, நோர்வே, அவுஸ்ரேலியா போன்ற நாடுகள் சூழலை பாதுகாப்பதில் முன்னோடியான நாடுகளாக காணப்படுகின்றன.

சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு அமைப்புக்கள்
உலகளவில் சுற்றுச்சூழலை பாதுகாக்கும் நோக்கில் சர்வதேச அளவில் இயங்குகின்ற அமைப்புக்கள் இருக்கின்றன. அவை சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பை மேம்படுத்த மாநாடுகளை நடாத்துகின்றன.

உலக நாடுகளுக்கு சூழல்பாதுகாப்பின் அவசியத்தையும் வலியுறுத்துகின்றன. உதாரணமாக UNEP, UNESCO, Bird Life International, WWF, IUCN, IPCC போன்ற அமைப்புகள் உலகில் சூழல் பாதிப்புகள் தொடர்பான தரவுகளை கொண்டு அவற்றை பாதுகாப்பதற்கான நடவடிக்கைகளையும் முன்னின்று எடுத்து வருகின்றன.

சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு சட்டங்கள்
இந்தியாவில் சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் தொடர்பான சட்டம் 1986 இல் இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பு சட்டத்தின் பிரகாரம் 253 ஆவது பிரிவின் கீழ் நடைமுறையில் உள்ளது.

இது ஜக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் சுற்றுசூழலை பாதுகாக்க எடுக்கப்பட்ட முடிவுகளை செயற்படுத்த நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது.

மேலும் நீர் மாசு தடுப்பு மற்றும் கட்டுப்பாட்டு சட்டம், காற்று மாசுபடுத்தல் தடுப்பு சட்டம் போன்ற சட்டங்கள் நடை முறையில் உள்ளன. இவற்றிற்கு கட்டுப்பட்டு சூழலை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டியது எம் ஒவ்வொருவருடையதும் கடமையாகும்.

சூழலை மாசுபடுத்தல் அனைவருக்கும் கேடு தருகின்ற விடயமாகும் சூழலை பாதுகாக்க நடவடிக்கைகள் எடுக்காது விட்டால் எமது எதிர்காலம் மிக பாரிய அழிவுகளை சந்திக்க நேரிடும்.

இயற்கையை நாம் அழித்தால் அந்த இயற்கையால் நாம் அழியவேண்டி வரும் ஆகவே தான் சூழலை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் எனும் கருத்தை அனைவரிடமும் கொண்டு சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக வருடம் தோறும் ஜீன் 5 ஆம் திகதி சுற்றுசூழல் தினம் உலகமெங்கிலும் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

நாம் வாழும் சூழலை நேசிப்போம் பாதுகாப்போம்.
