Lesson:
- Read the book together, pausing to discuss/answer questions
- Welcome discussion and questions about taxes and the content of the text
- Have students choose three items from the menu (page 10) to purchase. As a class calculate the initial price, HST, and total price

Consolidation:
- Provide students with paper or online flyers
- Have students choose five items to purchase
- Ask students to calculate the total cost of the items, without sales tax, in dollars and cents
- Discuss what happens if someone is paying cash (no pennies)
- Students determine the total cost of items, including taxes.
