Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 and died on October 24, 1972. In 1945 he played for a team called the Kansas City Monarchs. They were in the Negro American League. Robinson broke the baseball color barrier, also called the color line, when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He had a big role in bringing racial segregation to an end in professional baseball. Also, when people saw his character and skills they debated if they should keep the baseball color barrier. Apart from his cultural impact, Robinson had an overall good baseball career. Over ten seasons, he played in six World Series and helped in the Dodgers' 1955 World Championship. From 1949 to 1954, he was selected for all six All-Star Games. Robinson received the first MLB Rookie of the Year Award in 1947. He also won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1949. He was the first black player to win this award. Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. In 1997, Major League Baseball retired his uniform number, 42, across all major league teams.

A little bit later she became the first ever poet to perform at the Super Bowl. Her poem was called “Chorus of the Captain.” It was about COVID-19. So basically black kids had to go to different schools than whites people and those schools for the black peoples were very poor. So on May 17 1954 a black won the case for ending segregation in school because it was violating the 14th amendment for protection of everyone but they did not feel like that so many black parents sued schools case of this and became one of the most important cases ever. But it did take a long time for them to win. Those are some important facts on the brown vs board case.

When Owens was just 5, they found a tumor in his chest, and it kept on getting worse. His parents performed surgery on him, because they couldn’t afford a doctor. Jesse became a track runner at a very young age. Jesse survived. 
    When Jesse was nine, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1928, he set records for the high jump and the long jump. In 1933, he also set 3 other records in high school. Owens graduated from college in 1937, and worked for the Illinois Athletic Commision. In the olympics, he got three gold medals for the running broad jump, the 100-and 200-meter races, plus 4x100-meter team relay. 

     FUN FACT! IN 1936, JESSE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST ATHLETES TO WEAR ADIDAS SHOES! The adidas company was first started by two brothers. They had a fight, got mad at each other, and never spoke to each other again. One brother, named Adi Dassler, made Adidas, and he was Jewish. Adi was against the Natzis. Adi actually convinced the Natzis that black athletes were good, because they were wearing German shoes!

    FUN FACT! J.C, AS HIS PARENTS CALLED HIM, WENT TO BOLTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. BECAUSE HE HAD A THICK, SOUTHERN ACCENT, HIS TEACHER THOUGH HIS NAME WAS JESSE INSTEAD OF J.C. FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE HE WAS CALLED JESSE.

In 1995, the case went to the supreme court and the Mendez family won. Since they won, no schools in the U.S. couldn’t be segregated.

(property of Peter Blow) When Peter Blow died, Scott was bought by Dr. John Emerson, Ca army surgeon. When he died, Mrs. Emerson offered his freedom for only 300 dollars, but she refused to buy him. 
    They said that the negro might be justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery. He was bought and sold. In 1846 Scott and his wife sued for their freedom in a st. Dred Scott did end up getting freedom, but not through the courts.  
    On May 26 1857, Dred and Harriet Scott were in the st. Luis circuit court and they were formally freed! 
    Then scott took a job at Barnums hotel in the city. 
    As you can see, Dred Scott went through a lot. He was bought and sold, and eventually freed!

One of his amazing skills is that his feet are as fast as his hands and his right hand and left hand are equally as skilled/fast I love Carter not because he’s an amazing drummer also because he’s an amazing person and his music is so good.

    Martin gave his I Have A Dream speech that is famous for it’s words.

    Martin was a preacher, and tried to get people to fight and get black rights.

    Martin cared for black rights, he kept trying and trying to get black rights.

Her parent’s names were Lucille and Abon Bridges. When she was 4 years old, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1960, a Supreme Court case ruled that schools could no longer be segregated. The school leaders sent very hard tests to Ruby and other black children, because they did not want black children in their schools. Ruby eventually made it in, and on her first day of school, she was escorted to William Frantz school with her mother and 4 U.S marshals to keep her safe. When she got to school, there was a big mob of people. They mostly consisted of white women and teenagers and said angry things at her, waved signs with racist words, and even had a black doll in a coffin. But Ruby was very brave. She did not back down when people threatened her. She got to finish high school and went on to be a travel agent. She started the Ruby Bridges foundation, and was awarded the presidential citizens medal in 2001. Wrong, and was verbally abusive. Michaels career started very very young teenager, and with his brothers band he took off. Later he released his own solo soon, but unfortunately it did not take off. Later in his career he met Quincy Jones, and he released the album “off the wall” it was a top hit. Michael made more with Quincy jones and soon, Michael Jackson was a super star. Michael was married twice, to daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley, and soon after Debbie Rowe, which they had 2 kids together, and a 3rd kid, which the mother is unknown. Michael Jackson is not only known for his singing… he is also known for his appearance change. He was born as Giannis Adetokoumpo in Athens, Greece. He played good and he still plays now.

     Marian Anderson was born on February 27, 1897 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her parents were African American Christians. And died April 8, 1993.


    President Roosevelt and Walter White got the Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes to arrange an open air concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. On Easter Sunday 1939 Anderson performed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. to a crowd of 75,000 people that contained both blacks and whites. She started the concert by singing "America". She also sung “My Country, ’Tis of Thee”. The concert has been described as having started the civil rights movement for equality between African Americans and white Americans. In 1943 Anderson was given the $10,000 Bok Prize by the city of Philadelphia. She sung at the Constitution Hall.
    She kicked out of the White House because. She was black and they did not want her to sing.
