What is the voice of Creation telling you as you listen to the ecological realities? or what is in your heart as you listen to the ecological realities?

As I listen to the ecological realities, perhaps Creation is expressing that its interconnectedness with mankind further validates how human beings should be driven to push for ecological conversion. Destroying our common home would not grant us another one, and turning a blind eye to major culprits would not guarantee the shutdown of their harmful operations. The voice of Creation may be beseeching mankind to do their utmost to reverse the cataclysmic effects of their greed in order to restore the beauty of Mother Earth.

How do you see the current environmental situation in the light of our faith? Or what is your faith saying to you as you hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor?

It is unfortunate and unsettling to witness the current situation of the environment, especially since this has led to the amalgamation of crucial repercussions. Cases of poverty, corruption, and unethical business practices are proliferating, which points to the ever-growing presence of impunity. Hearing the cry of the earth and of the poor through the manifestation of these problems and their constant exacerbation moves me to believe that such issues call for faithfully and collectively working together as stewards of creation to cease the aggravation of the climate crisis.

As an individual, what do you ecologically commit to do?

I am ecologically committed to small practices that benefit the environment. These include thrift shopping, segregating waste, supporting green businesses, and reducing electricity use when possible. However, I do acknowledge the fact that the ongoing ecological crisis is rooted in systematic causes; recycling would not compensate for the damage inflicted by the continuous combustion of fossil fuels. With this, I will consistently educate myself regarding environmental degradation and the repression of the voices that fight for the betterment of the environment. I will also devote myself to advocating for climate justice by donating to causes, joining movements, and signing petitions where people demand major pollutants (i.e., giant corporations that largely contribute to climate change) be held accountable for their detrimental human activities.

What event in your life during the pandemic did you feel God's greatness move your little faith?

During the height of the pandemic, I lost two people in my extended family (not due to COVID-19). I remember being in shock because no one was aware of the extent of their conditions and their conditions themselves. Although it is commonly expected for families to lose faith and somehow fall apart when facing crises such as this, my family was brought closer together by this hardship. That was when I felt God move my little faith, because this was one of the instances that two extreme and consecutive challenges did not prevail over my family's oneness. Also, we do our best to spend time with one another and learn to appreciate the small moments we have together.

Based on that experience, what is God telling you in this year of synodality?

Even if we stumble upon obstacles in working, collaborating, or even simply "being" with others, God is telling me that we can surpass the hindrances as long as we learn to listen to one another and hear out the Holy Spirit's promptings through the people around us.

How do you think will that message help you face the challenges in this new SY?

God's message explains the essence of walking and journeying with other people—the very foundation of synodality. It reminds me that unity and harmony are possible as long as we strive for effective communication, altruism, and empathy to be the center of the relationships we will form/have formed this school year.

Share your thoughts and/or feelings, before, during, or after accomplishing the table above. You may also share insights.

Admittedly, it took me a while to select ten personal values since I struggled to distinguish between the person I am and the person I want to be and to include only ten personal values. After reading about my results and completing the table, I see how my choices are aligned with who I am currently. Albeit there are personal values that should be included in the top ten, I still acknowledge how crucial my current top personal values are to the way I perceive myself, live my life, and relate with others.

What decisions are you invited to make to prepare for the coming of the Lord?

This Advent season, I am invited to reflect on Jesus' life of servant-leadership. Leaders and other people of authority are commonly perceived as the ones on top of the hierarchy, but in servant-leadership, there is no hierarchy. I want to remain committed to serving others and not myself and this preparation would surely help me humble myself.

How will creations benefit with this choice of yours?

I would be more capable and deserving of being in a high position if I prioritize the needs of my constituents than taking advantage of my position to give importance to mine.

After reading the article, what is the challenge for you as graduating Theresians?

Being one of the Theresians who received transformative education, the challenge for me is to become a "trailblazer of change" as indicated in our culminating activity's theme. Even if I am just a small speck in the universe, I will strive to take part in and cause revolutionary changes in the system of our current society. I will remember my Theresian identity and use the markings, especially critical awareness of the environment and the poor and responding to the cry for justice and fullness of life, as the center of my aspirations. I will be a woman of brilliance and splendor in the future, and I am claiming it!
