From the module on Sculpture, I have learned that in order to fully comprehend the artwork, one should be able to describe the subject well and to look at every detail that it has because even the slightest bit of detail may have a substantial meaning to it that would contribute to the whole art. One should also be able to apply all the elements in interpreting the sculpture. I noticed that as time passes by, sculptors always carry with them the different styles from different generations and they are able to use it in their works. I also observed that artists also get inspired by their fellow artists in other artworks. It is also seen that some new sculptures are enhanced versions of old sculptures, giving it a different meaning and interpretation and because of this, they are also able to give a new look to old subjects. I have also seen that other sculptures from the past are heavily idealistic and from that, sculptures emerge and become more and more idealistic and personalized.

Before the module, I did not really know anything about sculpture, the only thing i knew was sculptures are those white marble statues in museums. Right before discussing sculpture in class, I do not really pay close attention to sculptures, I just admired them and not think heavily on it; I just looked at them and say that it is beautiful. I did not think that sculptures can have a deeper meaning in them simply by their looks, facial expressions, movements and proportion.

Even after this module, I have questions about how sculptures are made, I wonder how sculptors are able to carve a solid marble and make it look so detailed and real. I am curious about how the process of sculpture goes, how artists start from scratch and create such magnificent masterpieces. I also want to know how they are able to arrive at the concept that they desire and what could be their inspiration and their purpose in creating the artwork.
