Then the cropped image is duplicated and flipped which creates a image that is a pattern from the original image. When creating a tessellation you first need to pick out an image then open it in photoshop and use the rulers to create grids. Then you crop the photo to the size of the grids and move the photo onto the grid. From there you make copies of the image then move them to fill in all the squares and flip the image to make it fit. What i like about this is that it creates this really cool pattern out of an image that you don't think even could be a pattern. My favorite tessellation that i made was the palm tree branch that i had no idea could even create a pattern. What i struggled with was focusing on the one inch by one inch tessellation and not messing up on it.
