During the Mexican War of Independence he built a successful political and military army that took control in Mexico city on September 27th, 1821. He then became the Constitutional Emporer of the new nation.

Revolutionary History

Entered the royalist army and became an officer in 1797. He was offered a position in the revolutionary army, in 1810, but he turned down the offer. He was then removed from the royalist army in 1816. Finally, on February 24th, 1821, Iturbide assumed command of the revolutionary army.
