Right after the Civil War there was a women named Susan B Anthony. She was a very strong advocate and supporter of women's rights. Then another women joined her and they made the women's suffrage association. Both of them along with many others that started to join began to work and fight for the right to vote.

The campaign of women's suffrage began a couple of decades before the civil war in the 1820s to 30s. While they were protesting and wanting rights many other things were going on like the anti slavery organizations, temperance leagues, religious movements, and moral reform societies.

President Grover Cleveland was dedicating the statue of liberty on liberty island in New York City. At the time it was October 28th 1886 in the time American women did not have many rights. Many of them were protesting by boat or by land trying to get more rights and the right to vote.
