Now located in Hubei Provincial Museum, Wuhan.

The entire bell is a carillon composed of 65 bronze parts. Each bell has a taotie pattern on the front and back, which gives the music a ritual that can communicate with the supernatural. Many musical instruments and bronze treasures were found in the tomb of the Marquis Yi of Zeng. Ample musical instruments show how much Marquis Yi of Zeng attached great importance to musical instrument manufacture and rhythm research during his lifetime.

This handscroll is painted on silk by ink and color. It comes from the Northern Song dynasty and has an overall height of 2.06 meters. Now located in National Palace Museum, Taibei, Taiwan, Republic of China.

The entire handscroll has very precise details and proportions. People who view the entire artwork have the impression that they are scaling mountains, escaping from reality, and interacting with the spirit of Tai Chi. The artist expresses the wisdom of the universe in form. Landscape paintings demand the artist to organize their whole comprehension of "li" from numerous natural aspects.

As mentioned in the book, "Mastering outward forms showed an understanding of the principles behind them." Here in Neo-Confucianism, the principle is the source of all things, also known as the principle of heaven, which recognizes the changes of things.

Twelve Views of Landscape (13th Century CE)

This painting is from Southern Song dynasty, early 13th century CE. It was painted on silk and ink. The total height is 28 cm and 2. 31 meters long. Now located at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri.

This painting by Xia Gui has a more intimate and lyrical view of nature. The control of ink and wash makes the whole painting look like a landscape surrounded by clouds. To capture the rapidly changing world in a simplified form is like that invisibility is more existential than tangibility.

From the textbook, "During the late twelfth century, a new school of Neo-Confucianism called School of the Mind insisted that self-cultivation could be achieved through contemplation, which might lead to sudden enlightenment." The difference here is that the theory of mind advocates following people's hearts to explore and understand the laws of everything in the world. There are philosophical parallels in these paintings.
