Fever takes place in a 1793 Philadelphia, during a devastating out break of Yellow Fever. A young girl, Matilda, is in the midst of this struggle. She and her mother, and Grandfather, run a coffee house in Philadelphia. The business was doing fine until things started to go downhill. It all starts with their severing girl getting sick. Soon, Matilda's mother takes to bed with yellow fever. Fearing that Matilda might get sick, her mother sends her to the country, where city dwellers supposedly escape the fever. However, Matilda doesn't make it to her destination and must face challenges in order to get back home.   

Looking for Alaska is an adventurous and insightful book, from a boy's perspective named Miles Halter, Pudge, as called in the book. Pudge lived in Florida, but left his family and friends behind when he decided to go to Culver Creek Preparatory School in Birmingham, Alabama. Chip Martain, "The Colonel", was Pudge's first friend and roommate. Takumi Hikohito was another person in the group, along with Lara Buterskaya, but the main characters are The Colonel, Pudge, and the mysterious, beautiful, funny, clever, yet deceitful and destructive Alaska Young. Alaska is definitely a confusing character in the story. There's meaning behind every word she said, even though we may not have known it. Alaska had something about her that felt like she had secrets, and she knew everything that is happening. Pudge fell in love with her. But, Alaska had a boyfriend named Jake. Jake and Alaska were never really close, but Alaska still lured Pudge into falling in love with her. One night, the group was together and decided to drink and smoke. Unfortunately, these young college kids got dangerously drunk. Alaska, who was hammered the most, hooked up with Pudge. When everyone went to bed, Alaska woke up in a panic. No one knew what was wrong  with her, so when Alaska wanted to drive away, they let her. In the morning, there was a school assembly. A terrible tragedy hit, and after, nothing was ever the same. The Colonel and Pudge go into investigation, most likely because of their stage of denial. The boys discover secrets and clues as they find out more and more about this devastating tragedy. This book has taught me many lessons about myself, Also, it taught me to be thankful for the people around me. Looking For Alaska had so much sentimental value. I enjoyed this book very much. It suits the mysterious, dramatic and romantic genre. It has lots of suspense, sadness and happiness all together. I would highly recommend this book to people who are into that genre. I had a great experience with this book, it is now one of my favorites and I greatly suggest reading it.
