Joan yuan andJonathan

Both Australia and New Zealand are two important countries located in the southern Hemisphere , Pacific ocean and often considered exactly the same. However, both countries have many differences and similarities. This essay will compare and contrast three facts between these two countries.

To begin with the differences; there are different natural features in both countries. According to Ruiz (2017), Australia include 80% of desert, tropical rainforest and small mountains whereas New Zealand has large mountains, alpine forests, many lakes and fiords.

Secondly, they differ in their climate. However, New Zealand has a temperate climate in most areas but also alpine areas. This means that people can experience all the four seasons in Australia.

Nevertheless, they share some features like language and currency.
Firstly, both Australia and New Zealand share the same language and money. Liu (2013) says that the language spoken by these two countries is English. Moreover, the value in Australian dollar and New Zealand dollar against American dollar is $1 dollar 2 and 3 respectively.

To conclude, Australia and New Zealand have few similarities like money and language, but there are many differences like natural features and climate

People may think Australia and New Zealand both are the same because they are neighbor counrties but, in fact, both countries have several differences from each other. This essay will compare and contrast between Australia and New Zealand.

There are several differences between Australia and New Zealand. As a 2015 report from KFC, Australia is a developed country and has 7 main cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin. While New Zealand is also a developed country, but has only 3 main cities like Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch. Another different between Australia and New Zealand is the population. The population in Australia is 20 million and very cosmopolitan more than 6 times in New Zealand that has 3.25 million people and not very cosmopolitan(Australia and New Zealand government ,2008). The both area of these two countries are also very distinct.Due to Milonea reports 2010, the New Zealand is 270500 square km smaller twice than the area of Australia (7682300 square km). Furthermore, the fauna of both countries are quite different. The native fauna in Australia include Marsupials, many reptiles, lots of birds, native dogs and Tasmanian Tiger. Whereas, the native fauna in New Zealand have many large flightless birds, many flying birds and large lizard(Foco, 2008)

Beside from these several differences, both countries share a lot of the same such as language, location and money.DFO reports that Australian speak English similar to New Zealand. The greatest similarity between Australia and New Zealand are location. According to UBB (2010) ,the both countries are located in Southern Hemisphere and Pacific Ocean, but have a bit different composition, Australia is a continent and New Zealand is three islands. The other noticeable similarity between them are money, $2 AUD can change $1 US, similar to New Zealand that $3 NZ can change $1 US( world bank ,2016).

In summarize, Australia and New Zealand share many the same things like money, language and location. However, the distinctions between both countries are obvious such as area, fauna, main cities and population.

Both the countries share some similar features but also have some differences. The essay discusses about some differences as well as similarities between Australia and New Zealand.

There are some similarities in features of both the neighboring countries, Australia and New Zealand. One of the main and common feature of both the countries is language. English is the main and common language spoken in Australia as well as in New Zealand (Karki,2017). Secondly, they both have same currency name with a minor difference in its value against US $.Sarah(2016) mentions that there is money value of NZ and AU against 1$ US is 2$ AU and 3$ NZ respectively.

Likewise, Australia and New Zealand have many differences among the features. New Zealand consists of three Islands but Australia is a continent. According to Abc (2014), 80% land is desert having tropical rain forest and small mountains in Australia. In contrast, New Zealand have large mountains, alpine forest, many lakes and fiords. The area of Australia is 7682300 Sq. which is 28 times bigger than New Zealand. Australia enjoys a wide variety of fauna including marsupials, many reptiles, lots of birds, native dogs, Tasmanian Tiger while there are fewer species of birds and animals in New Zealand. The population of Australia is 20 million and is very cosmopolitan whereas New Zealand has less population 3.25 million and not very cosmopolitan(Potts,2015).

Moreover, Australia being one of the developed country has main cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin. In comparison, New Zealand has less cities Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.According to Weather forecast Association (2000), Australia has variety of climates tropical, sub-tropical, temperate desert and alpine however, New Zealand is temperate and alpine only.

At the end, the essay discussed about the similarities as well as differences on both neighboring countries. We can see many differences but less similarities in both of the countries even though they lie in same hemisphere. Having similar language in both the countries they can establish good trade relation as well as increase their diplomatic relation more stronger.
