Jackie Robinsons opportunity came in 1966 when Governor Rockfeller asked him to become a member of his Executive Chamber as Special Assistant to the Governor of Community Affairs. Although Robinson vowed to never take a full-time political job, he felt the position would hold up an important challenge. The Governor announced his appointment in Albany, New York in February, 1966.

Jackie Robinson decided to go to college. He had earned an athletic scholarship from UCLA. Robinson was the first athlete to receive a four letter scholarship, from UCLA. UCLA is where Jackie also met the love of his life, Rachel.

After departing the military, Jackie then signed a deal with a minor league team called the Montreal Royals. He played on the team for a while and earned a lot of respect for his talent. Later on during his career with Montreal, he talked to the Brooklyn Dodgers president, Branch Rickey and then eventually he signed with the Dodgers and was the first black male to be in the MLB.

While he was a part of the team, Jackie noticed a lot of differences. It took him a while to adapt. He also had to deal with prejudice and racial trouble. He eventually surmounted these situations and earned much respect. He established a new trend, because he created a new path for black athletes, a few years later more black players joined the league.

Jackie Robinson Jr. was killed in the small hours of Thursday morning June 17, 1971. He was driving to is parents house in Connecticut. e was twenty four years old when he died he was involved in the most important project he would ever be a part of. "He had to fight out of the hell of drug addiction.

In early December Jackie got a message saying the Mr. Rickey died. Jackie had mourned for him realizing how much their relationship deepened after baseball. It was the relationship that made Robinson feel as is he had lost is father. After baseball Branch Rickey had started treat Jackie as a son.
