To perform a valid prayer, a Muslim must meet specific criteria and follow a set sequence of actions.

* Requirements for Obligation: One must be Muslim, sane, and have reached puberty.

* Requirements for Validity: These include being in a state of ritual purity (from both major and minor hadas), ensuring the body, clothing, and place are clean, covering the aurat, facing the Qibla, and knowing the prayer times and methods.

* The 13 Pillars (Rukun): These range from the initial intention (Niat) and Takbiratul ihram to reciting Surah al-Fatihah, bowing (Ruku'), prostrating (Sujud), and the final salutations (Salam).

* Invalidating Factors: Prayer is nullified by speaking, excessive movement, presence of impurities, eating/drinking, or changing one's intention.

2. Ritual Purification (Wuduk and Tayammum)

Before praying, one must be in a state of ritual purity through Wuduk (ablution) or, if water is unavailable, Tayammum.

* Wuduk: Requires intention, washing the face, arms up to the elbows, wiping the head, and washing the feet up to the ankles in the correct order. Factors that nullify Wuduk include using the bathroom, deep sleep, or loss of consciousness.
