Fr Jeffrey has made history come alive with his photographs and clear simple presentation. He painted for us the socio economic background of those times. One nugget of information that was new to me was the history of Cold Storage. He has also given us a rare glimpse into the grim realities of opium and Japanese prostitutes. The last session on the dark pages of the church however could have been better presented. He presented only the official institutional church version of Operation Spectrum. He has not presented the view from the people. Likewise positioning ordinary Catholics such Adrian Lim as a dark page in church history seems simplistic - black and white. This segment has been a blot in an otherwise outstanding series.
