Education wasn't always as readily available as it is today. We wouldn't have the public school system without Horace Mann.

In the 1800's, Mann helped to create property taxes to fund public schools in the states. The schools were originally one-room schoolhouses where all children of all ages learned, but he later introduced a system in which the children were separated into grades, which is similar to the system we have now.

Horace Mann brought education to all of the children in America, and helped to shape the future of the country.
