Should the death penalty be legal? If so, in what circumstances should it be used? If not, what other deterrent should be used? Provide your reasons.

I do not believe that the death penalty should be legal. If someone did something worthy enough to need their life ended, I believe they should stay alive and have to deal with their own wrongs and live in the misery of what they did for the rest of their life instead of ending it and allowing them to rest forever. A deterrent that should be used should be they aren't treated nicely in jail and have to give back to the community.

Based on research, how much money does it cost to put someone to death versus keep them in prison for life? Why do you think this is?

The cost of putting someone to death versus keeping them in prison for life without parole is cheaper in the long run. When you keep the people in prison, we are paying for them to stay there and eat and live. Even though when you put someone to death you have to go to cases and judicial processes and that cost a lot of money, in the end executing someone is the cheaper route.

Should the death penalty be considered "cruel and unusual punishment"? Why or why not?

Cruel and unusual punishment is stated in the eighth amendment. I firmly believe that the death penalty is considered on the "cruel and unusual punishment" level. Murdering someone is never a good thing to do. Yes, there is certain ways that it can become more or less violate killing someone but it is still not right.

Is there any difference between Brittany Maynard taking her life and Robin Williams taking his life?

Even though they both took their life, it was in very different ways. Robin Williams hung himself knowing he was sick to end his life so during that process he probably struggled before his last breath. Brittany made it worldwide what she was doing and people were aware she was going to take her life because she was ill and had her closed loved ones by her side the whole time until it was her last breath. I believe there is a line between their deaths.

Based on your research, and not your personal feelings, should Euthanasia be legal? (You are not dealing with morality at this point)

Euthanasia should be legal to an extent. For animals, when it is time for them to die and they are in such pain, they do not need to live anymore. I suppose it could go the same way for humans, if they were in such pain in life then they could use euthanasia to go out of this world. But it should not be tempered with in a playful manner.

Should this be a religious issue or should it focus primarily on personal choice only without regard to a religious viewpoint? (This question deals with the moral side and does involve your personal feelings about this issue)

This is kind of tough to answer. From a religious side of it, you should not take your own life no matter how it is done. So no matter what side I look at this from, I still do not believe that someone should take their own life. That should not be their decision but the good lord above knows when it is time for you to go. I understand that when people are hurting and they do not wish to continue with their life or they know they are going to die, they should let the lord take over and do what he thinks is best.
