By the end of 1776, most soldiers were outfitted in blue coats with various facings, such as red for artillery, white for infantry, and green or yellow for other branches. They also wore tricorn hats, white or beige breeches, and leggings or gaiters. those are the colors of the revolution.

The Great Seal

After the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress gave Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams the job of creating the original seal for the new nation. But, everyone they designed the congress said no to, so, after two other attempts with other people, they made Charles Thomson make it, and he decided the eagle was an important element on the seal and it was more prominent, since in Roman, it is a sign for strength.

The Battle of Bunker's Hill

The Battle of Bunker's Hill was one of the first big battle in the Revolutionary War. The British sent three thousand of their best soldiers to the hill to take it as their land. Eventually, the British forced the Patriots off of the hill. The Patriots scared the British just enough so they couldn't attack the Patriots again. The Battle of Bunker's Hill was still a great battle of the Revolutionary War.

The Liberty Bell Predates the Revolution

On the bell it says "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof." No one knows today when the Bell was cracked. The last big crack happened on Washington's Birthday. The Liberty bell is located in Philadelphia at the visitor center. The Liberty Bell was rung often during its functional lifetime.

The Purple Heart

George Washington created this heart for the military merit and this was the first military badge in america for enlisted men. On August 7, 1782 soldiers were honored with the award.
