It catches the eye and then it guilt-trips you into wanting to donate by saying, “All you need is a heart and a dollar” as if you don’t have a heart if you’re able to spend but not willing. This impacts the public who realizes that the Red Cross is out there and still striving to heal everyone injured. Those injured have families, and there might be a viewer who sees it who is that family. It would impact them on an emotional level. The Red Cross is a nonprofit and was that way in World War I. This was the perfect way for some people who were good at knitting to contribute to the war. Soldiers were always walking through mud and they would always need to change their socks so this was very important so they wouldn't get foot diseases. Most women would knit and then men would go to war. This is a persuasive poster, it is showing that people are dying and it is trying to convince Americans to join the war. It uses personal, emotional, and moral appeal to convince an audience this idea.
