One way to approach this issue is to build CONFIDENT readers. Providing students with positive encouragement and reinforcement. That is half the battle. Knowing our students emotional background building confidence the needed piece. Encouraging students for reaching small goals such as identifying glued sounds, decoding and identifying prefix and suffix. All of these reading celebrations make a difference. Also hit the ground running with foundation and Heggerty awareness curriculum.
