The visualisation of flattening the curve of Covid19 is all over Twitter. But, as @jinsolmu the artist responsible for this version notes, data visualisations are not compelling to many, whereas pictures of cats are.

This visual immediately conveys the premise of two distinct and separate alternatives. The use of colour is very intentional - it references traffic lights (red=stop, green=go), and also implies a movement from more meat-focused (left) to plant-focused (right). This impression is given even though the word "meat" only actually appears in the right pyramid. The use of colour is prioritised over the legibility of the text - even if they can't read the words, viewers immediately understand that eating more green foods is better than eating more brown foods.

I think this visualisation from https://www.chartr.co/ (a great website) strikes a good balance between simplifying data so it's easy enough to understand but keeping the detail. However they often produced reports based on data elsewhere so it's tricky to know if it's always reputable.

This is a simple plot with an instantly understandable message. If the viewer wants to 'dive in' for more info they can read the location labels on the points, but these are also easy to ignore, they don't overwhelm the key information.

Visualisation using ggplot in R to show the probability of scoring a goal in any of the top 5 European Football Leagues depending on the location of the shooting chance. As the shooting chance gets closer to the goal, the probability of scoring increases. However, there are many outliers where a long shot on goal may have a 100% chance as it was the only shot taken at this location. Although the shooting chance has a lower probability of scoring if it is further from the goal, many chances were taken by exceptional players over the dataset.
