Evidence. Effectiveness, is there room for revisions in my classroom.

The effectiveness of learning targets- Learning targets have been effective in my classroom particularly in the area of collaboration. Students motivate one another and answer each others questions which builds peer moral and more open discussion of topics. Just as in the videos my students do lots of collaboration because they can provide each other with some student level answers.

Need to discuss the essential question at the start of the unit instead of just answering the essential question within the unit. Implementing the fist to five in lessons would be more beneficial instead of doing only an assessment. In the second video the elementary students would ask different levels of questions and show their reasoning and questioning and my students need more practice asking higher level questions and making connections because we seem to be stuck in the lower level of questions out of comfort.

There is always room for improvement as sometimes the Learning Target can be confusing or too broad of a target and it needs to be narrowed down. As part of the Learning Target, I have found that the fist to 5 is an excellent tool for me in seeing where students are in understanding certain concepts and where I need to repeat and do over.

With each new topic, I show the students what I expect for them to learn from the various terminology in the objectives. I have a hard time allowing students to "unpack" their learning targets because I'm teaching them something different each day. Due to the large amount of standards and topics I need to cover, I struggle with leaving time for them to discuss how they feel about an idea prior to learning it. Another struggle I have is making the essential questions rigorous due to their not knowing the basic terms and processes.
