Conviction by Kelly Loy Gilbert is about 16 year old Braden Raynor. Braden is a pitcher for one of the leading baseball teams in the fictional town of Ornette. Raynors' typical teenage life is turned upside down as his father is accused of murder. Braden's father is a Christian radio-host and his conviction has gained national recognition. Braden was the only one present at his fathers so called "hit-and-run". Braden is no longer allowed to see his father until after his trial, resulting in his older brother Trey having to come home. Trey left when Braden was young due to conflict with their father. Braden has to choose between keeping his family name in tact, or telling the truth to the entire nation.
