This activity helped children develop their phonemic awareness by having the students identify the ending sounds of certain objects that they saw. This aids students in learning the concept of rhyme, use playful experimentation with oral language, and focus on both reading and spelling. The kids had a lot of fun doing the activity. The strategy seemed very purposeful, and the kids seemed very engaged. The only thing I saw where some kids did not know what the objects were, so they needed help figuring that out.

The teacher also separated a word out and asked the student to put it together and tell her what word she is making. They are learning that some words have a similar structure, such as "let" and "met." Changing the beginning of these words can change their meaning completely. The teacher uses the rime "et" and asks students for a beginning letter because it helps them understand sound-letter relationship/patterns in words. The teacher is doing a great job at keeping the students engaged and making sure to have different students answer questions. She also gives clear instructions and makes sure to repeat them. The children are responding well; they seem to understand the activity and are engaged in the conversation.

It's also great for pronunciation because they are learning how to hear each individual sound. They are slowing down and learning about the words, which helps them read or speak them.
