  This Institute belongs to Herzen University where I study.  This year I was lucky to be in the dormitory, which is located directly in the building of the Institute. Moreover, my roommates are students of this Institute, so they told me a lot of interesting things about this place.

In the autumn I was first invited to a concert of the of the ensemble "Northern Lights". They sang songs in the national language, I heard throat singing and the way they masterfully made the sounds of animals and birds. When the dancers and singers began to beat the tambourines, it seemed that my heart started to beat harder in the beats of music. It was so exciting! I never thought that these cultures can so bewitch! I was immersed in the pagan culture of ancient people. By the way, recently my roommate brought tambourines to our hostel and tried to teach me how to beat on them. Of course, some people say that if you are not a shaman it should be prohibited for you to take a tambourine in hand, as the music played with it has a sacred meaning, you can call spirits suddendly..

They brought national food with them, for example fish, which is found only in their district. My rommate treated me with muksun, this is a fish that is found only in the Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug. Why does it have such name? One scientist wrote his work "Requiem for Ethnicity," in which he spoke about the fact that ethnic groups died, their culture and language disappeared and sooner or later, there would be nothing left from these nations. The teacher of Institute decided to prove that this is not so, and he organized an event that is called to say: "No, the culture of small nations is alive and will live." This is a very large-scale event, which attracts people from all districts and other countries. In wartime there was a school of air force and then there was also the hospital, where the wounded were brought. In this regard, there is a legend in our dormitory and Institute that at night you can see ghosts. And even there are people who really saw them! At night, we hear strange sounds from the second floor, as if someone is moving desks. At night! It's strange, but it's possible that we wind up ourselves.

It seems to me that very few foreigners ever heard of the nations living in our country. Maybe they would be interested to get acquainted with their culture, or at least hear their music and watch the dances.
