It is very basic programming, where students train the robots to follow patterns on the surfaces that they roll over. Ozobot moves along codes students create using lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper. The lesson below is a sample lesson using Ozobots to learn about polygons.

Universal Design for Learning

Universal Design for Learning encompasses the concept no student needs to be “fixed” but that the curriculum needs the fixing. Universal Design for Learning does this through three principals. The first principal is multiple means of representation followed by multiple means of expression and lastly, multiple options of engagement. By utilizing these three principals’ teachers design different lessons and curriculum, they use a range of different methods, materials and assessment and as a result are making appropriate efforts to educate and meet the individual needs of all learners. Universal Design for Learning is therefore a blueprint not an intervention. Universal Design for learning can benefit all students not just those outside of the ‘norm.’ In conclusion, Universal Design for Learning strives to fix curriculum, break down barriers and realizes the goals from the means for each student as an individual.
