It helps by bridging the gap between "haves" and "have nots." Having the cultural awareness allows the a global citizen to be aware and act on the basic problems that humans experience all around the world. The most important problem currently being addressed is the culture of poverty and how understanding specific nations cultural make-up can help formulate individualize plans in order to combat it.
