         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>John is throwing up in the bathroom when Bernard and Helmholtz comes to say goodbye as they leave for the island.</li><li>John leaves to a lighthouse that is far away from London as he wants to suffer from misery instead of living in civilisation. He is still not happy about the new location as the view reminds him of civilisation.</li><li>He spends the first night praying to every god he knows of to purify himself from the civilised world.</li><li>John uses some of the leftover money to buy materials and foods but decides not to eat the food as he doesn’t deserve to.</li><li>He finds himself singing as he makes a bow and arrow and starts to whip himself as he needs to be miserable not happy.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Some delta-minuses find him whipping himself and so they report about it.&nbsp;</li><li>The next day, a reporter comes to ask John to talk about that event.&nbsp;</li><li>John gets a angry and kicks the reporter. More reporters come to the lighthouse.</li><li>John becomes wild so everyone keeps a safe distance away by staying in helicopters.&nbsp;</li><li>It becomes quiet for a few days, John keeps thinking about Lenina so he jumps into thorn bushes to stop himself.&nbsp;</li><li>A reporter called Darwin and he had stayed there for three days. He filmed John whipping himself and produced into a movie.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The movie became an immediate sensation and John becomes the celebrity</li><li>Fans start swarming to the lighthouse demanding that they “want the whip”</li><li>Soon, Lenina arrives and opens her arms for John but he just gets even angrier and starts whipping her. She decides to run away with Henry Foster</li><li>&nbsp;The crowd chants the orgy porgy hymn&nbsp; and everyone uses soma.</li><li>After midnight, the helicopters leave and John collapses after all that has happened.</li><li>John wakes up and remembers everything. Horrified and disgusted by the events, he decides to commit suicide and hangs himself.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The last chapter is centered at the abandoned lighthouse which is “somewhere between Puttenham and Elstead” </li><li>The lighthouse is situated in a place that is far away from civilisation. However, John still complains that the lighthouse isn’t abandoned enough as the view of the sea makes him feel happy and reminds him of the World State. </li><li>Chapter 18’s mood is extremely dark and depressing. The atmosphere is not great.</li><li>John acts like a wild beast and violently deals with everything.</li><li>The mood is grim as the audience can sense the dark twist at the end of the novel as John hangs himself.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The last chapter was mostly about John and his self punishment.&nbsp;</li><li>The audience learns that John believes in truth over happiness.&nbsp;</li><li>He is emotional and intense. He practises self punishment such as flagellation and kneeling in order to s'élance himself and become pure of the sins committed by society</li><li>He becomes a celebrity because of his strange actions that are fascinating to the rest of society.&nbsp;</li><li>The reporters crowd around him which makes him become more and more violent.&nbsp;</li><li>He becomes more animal-like as the book ends. He believes that he doesn’t deserve any happiness as it is against his values.&nbsp;</li><li>He punishes himself every time he feels happy. His main form of punishment is throwing up and whipping until he collapses.&nbsp;</li><li>The audience learns that John's optimistic belief of World State is extremely different to what it actually is.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
