In the feature article " Me Me Me generation", author Joel Stein explains in P11 how the 21st centuries generation has developed as a self consumed society, hence the title name "Me Me Me" due to over-obsession of good looks, fame, how devoted we are to knowing our media followers (e.g. Facebook or Twitter) and we actually start to loose sight of everything around us "I know my number of Twitter followers far better than the tally on my car's odometer", this extract in P11 is an example of how we take media fame more seriously than anything else . The author, Joel Stein is trying to portray that we are locked into media; for instance, technology, phones, computers anything electronic. These devices remotely change our personalities from being modest to becoming arrogant, just by taking a range of selfies or quantity of followers. Furthermore, Joel Stein is illustrating that technology makes us less productive as we get mostly everything done by technology, this Is what is provoking the issue of a neglectful generation. Nevertheless, not only is the 21th centuries generation becoming lethargic however, the older generation is also adapting to the new generations roles on what they do, " the whole time I was accusing millennials of being lazy, that I was supposed to finish this article nearly a year ago". This is quotation of what the author, himself, has said which connects with the part of him being as lazy as our new generation.

Definitions of highlighted words:

Complain: to express dissatisfaction, uneasiness, censure, resentment, or grief.
In p11, the author "complains" about self absorption, with constantly using the word " I ".

Bylines: a printed line of text accompanying a news story, article, or the like, giving the author's name.

Mocked: to ridicule by mimicry of action or speech; mimic derisively.

Odometer: an instrument for measuring distance traveled, as by an automobile.

Strictly: in a strict manner; rigorously; stringently

Enforced: to put or keep in force; compel obedience to

Accusing: to charge with the fault, or to blame.

In paragraph twelve of "Me Me Me generation" article, Joel Stein , Autor, explicates how through the years of generations we have stabilized to depend on our parents on advice in financial situations and issues. For instance, the author explains he had complications such as jealousy with his co-workers due to having a closer relationship with the editor, he would therefore relay on either of his parents for guidance. In paragraph 12, Joel demonstrates that even though we have stayed dependent on our parents, we have grown up into believing what we want to believe in, whether its religion or your own passion "artists stopped using their work to celebrate God and started using it to express themselves." Nevertheless, Joel Stein concludes moving into the later 1900's, the freer and more technology invented the more the people became influenced by 'fame and glory' than wanting to be themselves.

Definitions of highlighted words:

College: people pursuing education after high school go to college spending either two or four years earning an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree.

Co-workers: A co-worker is someone you work with.

Financial: If you are short on cash, you might say you have a financial problem. It's also a verb — when people herd animals, they try to keep them moving in the same direction.

Banality: A banality is a trite, boring, or overused remark. That includes clichés like "life is short" and your basic small talk about the weather.

“The Me Me Me Generation”. Do you agree with the author’s opinion?

In my opinion, I partly agree with his opinion of the millennials. Even though I was born in 1999, I grew with the millennials, in a world of the new high technology. Over the years, we have evolved into being a self-absorbed judge-mental society. Therefore, most of the information this author, Joel Stein, provides us is true about our generation. However, I do disagree on how he says all Millennials want fame and glory, which in fact is not true. As a millennial myself, I find other things way more important than focusing my life on "maybe" becoming famous.

What is the meaning of the expression Millennials?

Denoting people reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century.

‘most social networking groups are dominated by the millennial generation’

What is the meaning of narcissistic personality disorder?

Summery:
Paragraph 1 & 2:
- Elders say that the people younger than them are lazy, selfish and shallow
- Narcissistic personality disorder occurs nearly three times as high for people in their 20s compared to the generation that are now 65 or older
- 58% more college students have scored higher on a narcissism scale during 2009 than in 1982 according to the National Institutes of Health
- 40% of the millennials believe that they should be promoted every two years, not even depending on their performance
- The millennials are considered fame-obsessed as three times as many middle school girls would rather grow up to be a personal to a famous person than to be a Senator
- In 2007 a survey has said that four times as many would rather choose the assistant job over being a CEO of a major corporation
- According to the 2012 Clark University Poll of Emerging Adults more people from the age 18 to 29 live with their parents than with their husband/wife
- It has been recorded that 80% of people under 23 wanted to have a job with a high responsibility, but 10 years later it decreased by 20% and now only 60% want a high responsibility job

Definitions of highlighted words:

3) Entitled- To give someone a legal right or a just claim to receive or do something
Shallow- Little depth
Incidence- The occurrence, rate, or frequency of a disease, crime or undesirable things
Morality- Principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behaviour

4) I do agree with this statement because I believe we have people in my generation which have the capability of saving civilisation and not ending it. But I do also disagree with that point because there are some teens and peoples in their 20’s who don't care about the rest, are very self-centred, lazy and so on. On the other hand, that doesn't mean that most of my generation is like that, we have people that have the capability to improve our world for the better and I believe that we can do a better job than the other generations, I am not saying that the other generations have done badly, there have been generations that have done amazing things for their countries, towns, cities and for Earth.

5) Millennial’s are a generation of teens and people in there 20’s hat just hold up cameras, take photos of themselves and posting them online.

6) Narcissistic personality disorder: Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder which makes people have an excessive sense of their own importance

7) This shows how there are many teens and people in their 20’s who believe technology is more important than everything else, which shows that there are teens which are very selfish and self centered when it comes to technology.
