I believe that the boy should save the ant. 

The first reason that leads me to believe that the boy should not squish the ant is that the ant is kind and has not done anything to the boy. When the boy finds the ant down in the crack, he is just bringing food to his family and minding his own business. 

The next reason is that the ant has a family that depends on him. In the story, the ant tells the boy "My nest mates need me 'cause I am strong". It is important for the boy to realize that the ant is not that different than him and has a family too.

Finally, the ant's family depends on him to bring them food and keep them safe. If the boy were to squish the ant, the ant's family would go hungry. In the story, the ant tells the boy "I dig out nest and feed baby ants, too, I must not die beneath your shoe".

I think the boy SHOULD squish the ant because the ant that came to the house is probably is a red ant and it could bite him and red ants HURT.

Also another reason why they should squish the ant is that the ant could probably steal all the food because he said i'm just getting food for my family and there was one picture where ants went on a picnic cloth and probably take food.

Another reason why they should squish the ant is because the kids play a game of squishing ants and they squish them a lot.

More reasons of why he should squish the ant is because he could get even MORE ants in the house and if something is old or it has been sitting in one stop for too long ants get all over it, it's just crazy!! One time Erin my 4 year old sister spit juice outside and ants were all over that juice like they haven't eaten in days!

At the end of the story HEY LITTLE ANT the author asked do you think the boy should squish the ant and I say no because of these reasons.
 The ant has a family. We know this because he has children to feed. The ant says ((I dig our nest and feed baby ants)).
  The ant has purpose in life. I know this because the ant said ((My nest mates need me because I am strong)).
    The ant is nice and kind for this reason. He used manners. He said ((so please don't make your shoe come down)).
