I knew that some of her tastes were already developed, so I chose to try and stay in her boundaries and go with not exposing her to any new things. For example, I chose one of her favorite music videos. I noted she enjoys listening to all genres of music. When I asked her about her favorites, she immediately came up with about 70 songs. She is very passionate about it.

To introduce her to new things, I wanted to slowly introduce her to my perspective. Another one of my observations that we were absorbed in different aspects of the art world so I added an art installation that I thought would add a unique touch to her feed. I know Alisia likes digital art and drawing so on her feed I added a reference to one of my favorite sculptures by Iris Van Herpen because I wanted to show her another art format that could be as appealing. I was also trying to mash up ideas to expose her to new variations of her favorite things. I know Alisia enjoys comedy and BTS(a Kpop boy band), and the fanbase for BTS is very passionate about them, so it was fairly easy to find a hilarious article on the BTS members. "Who eats the most amongst all BTS members". Another variation I did was choose a BuzzFeed quiz, “how long will your marriage with Danny Devito be?” because she likes silly humor and quizzes. I know that Alisia is the same age as me so I assumed that she would have similar interests. On her feed, I put one of my favorite book series, The Selection. I think the story is appealing to her because when I was interviewing her, she told me she was currently reading the series The Hunger Games. The two series have a similar storyline where the world is in an apocalyptic state, society is corrupt and the main characters are tasked to lead a revolution. I also know that Alisia and I live in Toronto, and my parents make a huge effort to try and introduce me to different parts around the city so I wanted to share a little bit of that aspect with Alisia. For example, I attached a link to a store called "the Paper Place". When I was interviewing Alisia, she told me she enjoys shopping, but her parents want to save money, so she is not allowed to shop frequently. I know that this element is one of the main factors deciding whether or not she buys something, so when I was looking for stores, it had to be cheap, appealing for a 12-year-old, and it had to be cheap. I found this store online in the downtown Toronto area, and it sells almost everything, but most importantly, Asian snacks. yt678

I enjoyed this project and I hope I accomplished my goal by introducing her to new things while showing her things that she likes.
