There are many ways to incorporate multicultural perspectives and content across multiple subject areas, such as books and guest speakers. Teachers can incorporate books into their curriculum or just for fun that show examples of different cultures. This will help students relate to what you are reading about. Guest speakers from all walks of life can come in and talk to students. This makes learning visual and more interactive.

History is a huge resource to help teach everyone about multicultural perspectives. Some examples of historical events that help shape multicultural perspectives are the Civil Rights Movement, and Diversity education in the US expanded to focus on barriers to inclusion for different groups, including ethnic minorities in 1990 (Bluck, n.d.). Lastly, trailblazers like Rosa Parks helped shape the history of multicultural perspectives.

Teachers can acknowledge and utilize students' unique cultural backgrounds by first getting to know each background, learning about their different holidays, traditions, and important dates, and then recognizing these events when they happen. This will help students feel included.

Teachers can also include opportunities for students to share personal things going on in their lives, or their culture, so the other students can get to know them better. To make this even more inclusive, you can offer different ways to share, like verbally, with a picture, or with objects like show and tell.

Some strategies for adapting teaching styles to meet the needs of diverse learners are visual, auditory, and hands-on. If a student has trouble with learning auditorially, then the teacher can provide a pre-teach before the lesson to go over vocabulary, etc (Bulloch, 2025). Teachers can also use visuals during an auditory lesson. If a student struggles to express themselves verbally, then they can be given an artistic way to express themselves or be a part of the lesson, like a written assignment or a drawing (Bulloch, 2025). Lastly, if a student struggles with written context, then try offering a lower-level text, allow for partner reading, use larger text, and allow for more time (Bulloch, 2025).

This sets up the classroom as one that demands respect, inclusivity, and kindness for all. Students can be involved in this process by doing a whole group class rules where students decide the rules of the classroom, which helps build buy-in.
