There also traded stock (Somewhat like the modern sense) so they "shared" the risk of ships.<br>3. Without this government sponsorship, the VOC would have never survived.<br>Like certain American colonists, the VOC made trade deals that benefitted themselves and when the indigenous people groups violated some obscure clause, the VOC pounced on the opportunity to subdue the native peoples and make a buck.</div>]]></description>
