Hi -
I'm an emeritus professor in BME, Neurobiology and Ophthalmology, but am still active, especially in things related to teaching preparation for grad students. My PhD is from NU in BME, and after a few years at UCSF, I came back as faculty in 1983. I also spend time gardening, playing clarinet, watching British mystery shows on PBS, biking, and keeping track of our children and grandchildren. This was our family in 2006, with only our older son married and no grandchildren!

My research broadly examines information consumption strategies (i.e., why do some people choose to consume some information and not others). I find there are quite a few overlaps with teaching, so the process of learning more about educational pedagogy has personally been fascinating. I look forward to working with all of you! (I'm not sure why I can't figure out how to add a photo, but I do have a website with a photo if that helps - www.camillesaucier.com)

I hold a BA in Business Management (2013, Eindhoven), MA in Applied Ethics (2016, Utrecht) and PhD in Research Ethics and Integrity (2021, Dublin).
My research is focused on the ethics of attributing credit and responsibilities in research collaborations, technology ethics and the use of AI in research, and citation ethics. My professional goal is to cultivate fair and inclusive working cultures and improve ethics and integrity in academia. In terms of teaching, inclusive and culturally responsive methods have been paramount in my teaching philosophy, i.e., every researcher has the potential to reflect on ethical issues and partake in moral reasoning. I am excited about this opportunity to improve my teaching skills and look forward to learning more about all of you.

Hi Everyone!

I am a first-year phD student in chemistry, and I am so excited to be taking this course with you all!

I received bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biochemistry from Oberlin College in 2018, and I have returned to academia in order to pursue a teaching career. I want to teach either high school or undergraduate chemistry because I believe this will put me in an excellent position to help young people find joy in their connections with the natural world, their communities, and their selves. I am excited to adopt and develop teaching methodologies with which I can make this dream come true.

My past research focused on synthesis of crystalline materials and analysis of how changes in their chemical compositions affect their structural features and properties. I am currently interested in the thermodynamics and atomic-scale mechanisms of crystal growth. Understanding crystallization mechanisms allows people to interact strategically with their environment, altering important processes such as pipe corrosion, pollutant transport, bone development, and materials engineering. Outside of academics, I love crafting, board games, and all things silly!

I have been very interested in different teaching techniques throughout my TA experiences and am excited to learn more about how to utilize them and incorporate them into my own teaching plans over the next few years. My research involves using dye-containing polymers/chemicals to directly view the movement and dynamics of small molecules that are too small to be seen with other methods and have previously only been theorized. I like how visually clear and enticing the final data is and like to think of it as a metaphor for a good instructor: making difficult concepts seem more straightforward and connecting the dots between them.

I got my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Delaware, where I also worked with the Blue Hen Leadership Program on teaching and mentorship strategies.
