         <description><![CDATA[<p>This eTwinning project aims to support students with mild intellectual disabilities in becoming independent, safe, and active individuals in daily life, in line with the 2025–2026 eTwinning annual theme “Basic Skills (Life Skills). The project focuses on developing students’ fundamental skills in literacy, mathematics, science, digital competence, and citizenship through concrete, experiential activities connected to real-life situations. Students with mild intellectual disabilities need learning environments that are directly related to daily life, include repetition, are visually supported, and appeal to multiple senses, as they often learn at a slower pace, have difficulty understanding abstract concepts, have short attention spans, and struggle to generalize what they have learned. This project has been designed by taking these needs into consideration. Throughout the project, students will develop skills such as understanding what they read and listen to, expressing themselves verbally and visually, solving simple mathematical problems encountered in daily life, observing natural events and establishing basic cause-and-effect relationships, using digital tools safely and consciously, and behaving in accordance with social rules. The activities are planned to ensure active student participation and include game-based learning, drama, matching activities, role-playing, simple experiments, visual materials, and digital tools. During the project, students will gain not only academic skills but also social life skills such as self-confidence, taking responsibility, cooperation, waiting for their turn, following rules, and effective communication. Thanks to the collaborative environment provided by the eTwinning platform, special education students and teachers from different countries or cities will come together to experience intercultural interaction, collaborative production, and shared learning. This process will help students feel that they are part of a community and will increase their social participation.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The main aim of this project is to enable students with mild intellectual disabilities to become more independent, conscious, and active individuals in daily life by acquiring basic skills that they can use throughout their lives. The project aims to help students cope not only with situations encountered in the school environment, but also with those they face at home, on the street, while shopping, in digital environments, and within society. It is well known that academic knowledge alone is not sufficient for special education students. Therefore, the project is based on the principle of “being able to use what is learned in real life.” Literacy skills are not limited to letter recognition or reading; instead, the project aims for students to understand daily instructions, interpret simple texts, and derive meaning from pictures and symbols. Mathematical skills are related to daily life rather than focusing solely on the four operations, emphasizing skills such as using money, understanding the concept of time, measuring, and making comparisons. In the field of science, the goal is not for students to memorize scientific knowledge, but to encourage curiosity, observation, and the establishment of basic cause-and-effect relationships through simple experiments. Within the scope of digital skills, the project aims for students to become individuals who are not only consumers of technology but also capable of producing simple digital content and who are aware of safe and responsible internet use. Through citizenship skills, students are supported in recognizing social rules, becoming aware of their rights and responsibilities, and developing behaviors in line with democratic processes. In addition, the project aims to increase students’ self-confidence, help them experience a sense of achievement, enable them to express themselves, and support them in becoming visible and active individuals in society. By involving families in the process, the skills acquired will also be reinforced in the home environment.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>By the end of the project, students are expected to become individuals who can act more independently in daily life, have increased self-confidence, and use basic skills in a functional and practical way. Students will be able to better understand what they read and see, use simple mathematical operations in everyday situations, and demonstrate safer behaviors in digital environments. In addition, noticeable improvements in students’ social skills are expected; they will be more willing to participate in group activities and more confident in expressing themselves. From the teachers’ perspective, the project aims to provide experience in implementing eTwinning-based projects in special education, encourage the sharing of good practice examples, and support professional development.</p>]]></description>
