One of the highlights of my internship was the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. I assisted passengers with diverse needs, from families traveling with young children to elderly individuals requiring special assistance. This experience taught me the importance of empathy and cultural sensitivity in providing a positive travel experience. I left Gapura Angkasa YIA with a deeper understanding of the aviation industry and a strong desire to pursue a career in customer service.

The biggest challenge during OJT was dealing with passengers with various complaints or special needs. I learned how to remain calm and professional in handling difficult situations, such as flight delays or lost baggage. The ability to communicate effectively and with empathy became the main key in providing excellent service. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also significantly improved my interpersonal skills. OJT in passenger services truly shaped me into a more prepared and competent individual in the aviation industry.

The most memorable experience was when I was given the chance to assist with batik workshop transactions and eventually passed the guide certification exam to become a local guide. From there, I could directly accompany visitors on museum tours, explaining the collections, history, and culture within the museum. Not only did it enhance my communication skills, but it also expanded my knowledge of Javanese history and Indonesian culture. This OJT made me increasingly appreciate the importance of museums as both educational centers and cultural tourism destinations.💫

This experience not only honed my technical skills, but also helped me understand the importance of teamwork. When there were obstacles, such as passengers missing their flights or baggage problems, the entire Pasasi Gapura Angkasa team moved quickly and worked together to resolve them. I felt like I was part of a big family that was always ready to help. This OJT experience gave me a deep understanding of the aviation world, especially in serving passengers. More than just theory, this OJT taught me that friendliness and sincerity in service are the keys to creating a pleasant travel experience for everyone.

The most exciting part was when I joined the interactive exhibitions and guided some visitors there. On the fifth floor, there were animations like Ajisaka and Lorong Waktu that told stories about Hanacaraka, Batavia, and Yogyakarta in a cool and creative way. Then on the sixth floor, visitors could try interactive rides that made history feel more alive and not boring at all. I got to explain and accompany them, which made the whole experience more memorable for me. From this internship, I realized that a museum is not only about old objects, but also about education and entertainment. Overall, this experience taught me responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of culture.

I also experienced helping passengers during the boarding process, making sure they followed instructions and went to the right gate. Sometimes, I encountered passengers who had excess baggage, and I observed how the staff explained the additional charges politely. I was impressed by the teamwork among the employees, who supported each other to ensure smooth service. From this OJT, I gained not only technical knowledge but also soft skills such as communication and problem-solving. Overall, the experience was very valuable and motivated me to improve myself in the aviation industry.

Even without system access, I learned a great deal about the importance of team coordination. I saw how every passenger service officer collaborated and coordinated with other departments, such as security and baggage services, to ensure all processes ran smoothly and on time. I also understood how crucial punctuality and discipline are in this role.

This experience proved that technical proficiency is only part of the job. Adaptability, teamwork, and effective communication are the core foundations for providing excellent service in passenger services.

During my OJT, I had the opportunity to see various museum collections. including the Antiquities Collection, Fine Arts, and Performing Arts. I also explored several exhibition rooms, such as the Introduction Room, Prehistory Room, Classics Room, Batik Room, Shadow Puppet Room, and Wayang Golek Room. The OJT experience at the Sonobudoyo Museum not only provided insight into Javanese culture but also provided the opportunity to interact with a knowledgeable guide. This gave me a better understanding of the values ​​and norms that shape Javanese society.

I completed my OJT for two months, which was my first experience. It helped me understand the outside world. I gained a lot of experience during my OJT. I also realized that the luck of having a good job isn't just about gaining valuable experience. Having good coworkers is also a from of luck.

At the boarding gate, I prepared the gate equipment and ensured that passengers' baggage was reweighed if necessary. I was also in charge of checking baggage that exceeded the limit or did not comply with regulations, as well as assisting passengers with the boarding process. Next, in the lost and found section, I was in charge of collecting baggage that had been left behind or was problematic, then recording and storing it properly. Meanwhile, in the make-up area, I attach the Make-Up Baggage Checklist to checked baggage to ensure everything is documented. This experience provided valuable insights into the behind-the-scenes operations of an airline. I feel proud to have been part of this important process, even if only temporarily.

In the days that followed, I became more familiar with these tasks. I also had the opportunity to interact with passengers who were waiting in line, providing information about security regulations in a friendly manner. With this experience, I feel more confident in carrying out my duties as an AVSEC officer and am ready to face other challenges. This OJT provided valuable insight into how every small step plays a big role in maintaining flight safety.

During my OJT, I also had the opportunity to work with the cargo team in managing shipments. I learned about the importance of effective communication and team coordination in ensuring that shipments run smoothly. Additionally, I also learned how to handle problems that arise during the shipping process. With this experience, I was able to improve my ability to work with the team and manage shipments more effectively. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to undergo OJT in the cargo field, and I will never forget this OJT.

In the middle of the internship, I took a qualification test to become a guide. The test was quite challenging because I had to master the material about the museum’s collections and learn how to present it clearly and engagingly to visitors. After passing the test, I was finally allowed to guide visitors directly. That experience not only boosted my confidence but also enriched my knowledge and communication skills, which will be very useful for the future.

My on job training at PT Sriwijaya Air, Yogyakarta International Airport, in the passenger handling department, provided me with deep insights into airport operations. I learned about the passenger flow, from arrival to departure. This opportunity allowed me to interact directly with various types of passengers. I also observed how the passenger handling team works together to ensure a smooth process. This experience is invaluable for understanding the dynamics of the aviation industry.

During the On the job training, I was involved in assisting with the check-in and boarding processes. I learned to verify travel documents and provide necessary information to passengers. In addition, I also learned to handle issues such as lost baggage or flight schedule changes. Coordination with other officers was key in completing each task. This experience enhanced my communication and problem-solving skills.

During the internship, I not only learned the theory but also practiced in the field. I participated in routine patrols in the airport area, assisted officers in conducting inspections of passengers and baggage, and learned how to operate various security equipment such as X-rays and metal detectors. From this experience, I understood that being an AVSEC officer requires thoroughness, patience, and good communication skills. I am very grateful for this opportunity and hope to contribute to maintaining aviation security in the future.

After that, I was introduced to the AMC office and explained how it worked. I was also introduced to the equipment used by AMC. At AMC, I was taught how to fill out logbooks, AMC sheets, and so on.

Every morning, I conducted an inspection of the airside area. Afterward, I filled out an inspection report. If there were any issues on the airside, AMC handled them. I really enjoyed gaining new experience there.

In the second month, I was assigned to the check-in counter. There, I learned how to check in passengers’ tickets, label baggage, and assist in weighing luggage. I was also involved in helping to organize passenger queues and carrying oversized baggage from the check-in counter to the make-up area. This gave me a better understanding of how the front-line service works and how important it is to serve passengers quickly and politely. By the end of my placement, I realized that every role in the airport, whether behind the scenes or in front of passengers, requires teamwork, responsibility, and good communication. Overall, my OJT experience at PT Kokapura AVIA not only gave me technical knowledge but also taught me discipline, service skills, and the value of professionalism

I also gained incredible experience serving customers directly and being able to distinguish between hazardous and non-hazardous goods. I also gained more confidence and gained a lot of knowledge during my OJT in cargo.

I also gained valuable experience in dealing directly with customers during my OJT. I provided information about cargo rates and explained regulations regarding items that were allowed or prohibited. By serving customers, I developed my communication skills and became more confident. I realized that responsibility is very important in every task given at the workplace. Through this, I learned that good communication and accountability play a big role in achieving success in the cargo department.
