         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Descriptive Statistics: numerical data used to measure and describe characteristics of groups<br>-Histogram: a bar graph depicting a frequency distribution<br>-Mode: most frequently occurring score<br>-Mean: average calculated by adding all the scores and dividing by the number of the scores<br>-Median: the middle number in the distribution<br>-Skewed: a representation of scored that lack symmetry around their average value<br>-Range: the difference between the highest and lowest score<br>-Standard Deviation: a completed measure of how much scores vary around the mean score<br>-Normal Curve: a bell-shaped curve that describes the distribution <br>-Statistically Significant: how likely it is that an obtained result occurred by chance<br>-Inferential Studies: help determine if results can be generalized to a larger population<br>-Correlation: measure of the extent to which 2 variables change together, and thus of how well either variable predicts the other<br>-Correlation Coefficient: a statistical index of the relationship between 2 variables (from +1.0 to -1.0)<br>-Scatterplot: a graphed cluster of dots which helps determine correlations<br>-Positive Correlation: 2 variables rise/fall together<br>-Negative Correlation: 1 variable rises as the other falls<br>-Illusory Correlations: perception of a relationship where none exists or random events that we notice falsely assume are related<br>-Placebo Effect: experimental results caused by the experiment alone<br>-Double-Blind Procedure: an experimental procedure used to avoid the placebo effect<br>-Random Assignment: used to minimize preexisting differences between the different groups by assigning participants to experimental and control groups by chance<br>-Validity: extent to which a test/experiment measures/predicts what it is supposed to</div>]]></description>
