I chose a picture of the Earth to represent my understanding of the role of plants in the environment and society because plants play a role in everything. Plants not only produce oxygen, they provide food, and shelter in the form of homes for humans, or a place to build nests for such animals as birds and squirrels.Without plants we wouldn't inhabit the Earth and the Earth itself wouldn't exist.

The rainforest biome is in constant danger of ecological change. Humans are a huge cause for this change; humans destroy this biome every year for resources such as timber, mineral extraction and land for agricultural uses. Climate change that leads to drought is also a cause for concern for this biome. Droughts lend to the dying of plants and put the forests at a high risk for forest fires.

Source:http://kids.mongabay.com/elementary/501.html

I chose this diagram because it lists some of the negative and positive outcomes of the Neolithic Revolution. While the positive outcomes allowed people to settle down and grow crops to eat as well as raising livestock for food, the cons could have been devastating to the population. The Neolithic Revolution brought on the spread of disease, as well as the chance of attack which could cause the population to dwindle.

I think that the innovation of GMOs is one of the most important innovations that have come out of the Third Agricultural Revolution. GMOs helped the revolution by increasing the corp yield, increasing shelf life of crops, and warding off certain pests and insects.

I chose this picture because as of right now, I don't think we as a whole are doing enough for our environment. Budget cuts to the EPA as well as events such as the oil spills and the gas leaks we've had over the past few years have done nothing but harm our environment. As a whole, we are a wasteful people, and I believe that we take for granted the resources that our planet offers us.
